What kind of comments are worth deleting?

I understand if you delete comments that are homophobic or resemble some kind of hate speech.
But what about something like "Your story is shit. Instantly dropped."?

I tend to ignore them or have fun with them. Deleting them lets them know they've gotten under your skin. never give them the satisfaction. Just put a heart emoji or like the comment.
also, you gotta have thick skin for this kinda stuff I'm afraid. if your gonna be posting stuff for any random Tom, dick and Harry to see it's natural your gonna bump into some unsavoury types. don't let them discourage you. just keep pushing forward because I guaranteed for the one guy that dislikes it there is at lease 2 other people that like your story.

Well, I'd probably delete those comments that only say "First". But if they say something else then add "Also first." I'd probably leave em. And yeah, bigoted stuff should go byebye.

Agreed in general, but two SH-interface-specific things that may influence how one wants to react to this sort of comment: If I recall correctly, liking doesn't tell you who liked it, so it doesn't have the same impact as a heart emoji. Also, SH doesn't tell people if their comments get deleted.

Personally I don't think any comments should be deleted. Even the obscene ones.

Yes it's true that they can be harsh, or even hateful at times. But I think it's good to remind people of what has been said rather than simply delete it from existence.

Under one circumstance:
You are the author of the story where the comments ae posted.

It is also possible to remove comments if they are in a comment chain where your comment is the first post, but only by removing your own post. This removes the entire comment chain.

I have no experience with this, but I'd feel bad making my readers see a garbage comment. I'm definitely not going to tolerate anything that's against the rules, either.

Other than that, it just pads out your story's numbers- so it only benefits you in the end.
