I just want to know because I like to use a mix of everything but I don't know how other people research for their stories.

Books and old books on the Internet? Though I really wonder how far people actually research stuff for their stories. It can't be that far from a quick Wikipedia search at most, right?
I usually spend hours researching for my story only because I hate it when writers assume things. That and it's a historical fiction so I needed to know a lot about the time period.

I usually write pure fantasy, so I don't normally do research cause I can just make up my own stuff. However, with my current story, even though its set in a city that doesn't exist in real life, it takes place in a modern setting which made me have to do some form of research. I usually use the internet cause its just easier and saves time, especially if all I ever need is very basic information.

I do my research by watching documentaries (internet), and by books, too.

My experience as a teacher also helps, especially when creating characters since I just base their attitude on what I observed from my students.

Internet. I haven't set foot in a library for so long. Also, most of my ideas are rehashed from somewhere else, after all, plagerism is how I get things done.

Btw, I'm weak, so I spend my time researching stuff whenever I'm not lazy. There aren't many things that I need to look at or do research as my story takes place in our day and age. But there is a few things I need to research, the main one being MMA. As it's a big part of the story, I watch fights, analyze them, watch highlights, watch how others review and deconstruct fights, watch guides to different techniques and sometimes read manuals. I also read(currently on pause) an old book about martial arts and plan to read a few more to look at fighting from a spiritual side of things.

I also do adjacent research as I look into training equipment, exercise machines, etc. I do such a thing because I don't know what's the name of this or that in English. Same with clothes. I want to visualize characters and make the difference in clothes as another part of their personality. So I'm forced to look for hours to see how, for example, this fecking piece of a cardigan is named properly! Don't know if these two things count as proper research.

I do research looking on Wikipedia, watching videos on youtube, reading articles on Google, reading books, watching documentaries, you name it. There is no single way to do research, sometimes I test them myself if I'm looking for a sword-fighting technique or martial art for my fight scenes to test the physics. I want my world to be as realistic as possible.

Ai-chan oftens gets stopped by research. Ai-chan has OCD, so Ai-chan researches things excessively and that caused a blockage in Ai-chan's mind where it's a spiralling effort of research, research, research until Ai-chan gave up on writing the scene.

Internet, books, and old books to look up how things are written an apply the techniques used to my own writing. First hand experience, second hand experience, and my own imagination to help me get into the scene through play-acting / playing pretend. All of that works for me.

Wikipedia. Few more links google around to see related stuff and more bout what am looking up on. And for certain things if know people or grew up hearing it, then its bonus to ask em.
