I was working on a recent story, then realized I have to delete the whole thing. It was one fatal thing, that makes it impossible to do.

In the Post Story, the main is believed to be dead. And they remain hidden, very rarely revealing their presence.

As a result, this story can’t happen. Since it was revealing they were alive in a wide scale war.

Gonna have to plan another way for iguana shenanigans. :blob_teary:

There were more ideas that I canceled on then I finish on. There were two evil vampire stories (very different from each other), a story about an amalgamation who could turn into a dinosaur, a story about a goddess cat girl, a story about a prisoner living in another world, a story about a dryad man who protects a forest, a story about a vampire who got depressed about the world so locked herself in the library, and so many more. Some of these were realized into stories and then deleted. Some are just ideas I might bring up to someone and then I don't actually write them. Either way, ideas are pretty worthless if you don't pen them to paper. (Sorry random idea man in chat.)

Yeah, difference is. I deleted about 15k words or so. :blob_blank:

Well, that iguana is gonna have his silent protagonist day. Val will make sure of it. :blob_thor:

I has this plan for a whole arc where the MC was in a depowered state in my superhero novel, and would have to be more clever and smart instead of the usual punch first mentality she went.

Then I remembered readers hate it when anything negative happens to the MC and people were not a fan of that arc. Ended up scrapping half of it and wrapped it up and gave her powers back a lot quicker then I intended and had to make some trashy road trip arc to compensate.

Depends how it is done. For instance, the fourth book of my series.

It covered things in a certain way. The main was more on the side starting off. However, you saw the next stage of their awakening in process.

This one covered other character stories, which is important for the finale. As well as the antagonist in each of the story.

In the second half, the main goes back to the front. In the finale, they trigger the antagonist’s trap was bound to a corpse.

They were in a very depowered state. One of the things, is that the story steadily covers the main no longer hiding.

Their ascension in the finale near the end, was the culmination of everything the fourth book was building up to.

Readers liked that one.

The finale of the series, Book 9.

It builds up in the main’s final ascension for the series. It was tragedy after tragedy. At first, it received enormous backlash.

Though, as it drew closer to the end. It received enormous support and led to the largest growth the series experienced. The end solidified that.

It just depends how it is done.

I once planned a spicy romance fanfiction set in the world of Monster Hunter World. I wrote 2 sex scenes, 1 monster hunt, and 1 tragic backstory before I took a step back and realized I had no idea where I wanted the story to go. I never delete anything, so it's been collecting dust in my Google Drive till this day.

Not exactly cancelled but rough ideas that (so far) never went anywhere.

Two of them are mentioned in last chapter of True Blue posted - the story where Adamsky and Burke met "that guy who claims to be Frankenstein's creature" and the story of "the mummy in Atlanta" (the latter has two chapters written but may never see more than that while the former has a very rough concept brief and nothing more).

A time travel adventure story.

A few others. Some may eventually see the light of day, most won't.

Canceling ideas is improtant.

“People think focus means saying yes to the thing you've got to focus on. But that's not what it means at all. It means saying no to the hundred other good ideas that there are. You have to pick carefully. I'm actually as proud of the things we haven't done as the things I have done. Innovation is saying no to 1,000 things.”

I have several rejections, among them I tried to make a yuri, it worked in my mind but in practice the result was very horrible.

I also had a spatial one but when I tried to explain it, it came out a nonsense that would easily look like it was made by disney.

Other ideas like a kind of kamen rider with dragons, I have many more rejected ideas but I won't say them.

That's the bad thing about having so many ideas, you don't know which one is good and which one is worth developing.

This little ditty can also help put things into perspective.

making my un-harem-able character had a harem (of two dryads).

I immediately pulled that idea out

Good for you to cut them out.

I have this subconsious urge to advise create a sloe character development progression that may spent multiple main arc so that they are "harem ready", or at least capable of maintaining harem relationship by the end of it.

But that's HARD and LONG journey, with very little reward at the end of it.

And it would cost too much effort, effort that's better spend on the main story, the main arc, and the main progress.

And therefore, again, good for you to cut that idea out.

The dryad couple/drydad sisters could be salvaged as ally or important characters for some other arc, and with their existing personality, treat the main character as how a dryad treat a stranger beneath them.

Or just move them into another story and pair those two dryad with another character that's actually capable of building harem right from the start.

Well, I believe you have thought of them and decided that you have so much other planned characters, with more character in the making, these dryad are just gonna be an obsolete nuissance.

Or just build another dryad from scracth, and make the dryad a character that's capable of running their own story. Dyrad female MC is rather underrated.

Yeah. Going on ramble for a bit. Good for you to abandon those ideas.

*Checking 50 backlogs of ideas either scrapped or put on hiatus*

*100 more on other app*

*10 other ideas still being developed and cancelled due to lack of information or lack of understanding of the settings of some fanfic ideas being worked on.*

*2 ready to be published but still working on understanding the world and plotline*

Uhh....I'm still planning on writing one. But I'm not too sure if I made any mistakes.

I just tend to scrap my ideas or just leave them in the corner gathering digital dust. Honestly, I've had so many ideas that I eventually just take a second longer and think, yeah, I'm good with what I'm doing.
