What genre do you consider to be the healthiest to be exposed to, and what’s the unhealthiest? I’m talking about the psychological effects, like how tragedies can have a negative effect but also a positive one, while genres like NTR can teach you about the cruelty of humanity-nya.

This is just my opinion so take this with grain of salt.

Healthiest in terms of psychological growth - psychological

Healthiest in terms of physical growth - religion/self help or dark fantasy

Healthiest in terms of mental health - cozy mystery, low fantasy, or children's stories

Healthiest in terms of knowledge - Science fiction(not star wars) or historical fiction

Unhealthiest - smut, dark gore fantasy, lemon, and/or politics

:meowsip:That is a fair point, but is that not true for all genres in general?
Only the ones you, as an individual(there is no blanket statement), find to be stressful. If you find thriller, mystery, dark humor, the data sheets in litrpgs, or even cottage drama to be stressful for you then sure.

Okay, all R18 genres are unhealthy to read, especially for children (underage). The R18 label is no joke. Make sure you supervise your children. Don't let children's innocence be ruined by unhealthy stories.

And as for healthy genres? I can say that all stories designed from the start to teach moral values/human values are very healthy to read, even if they are heavy genres such as psychological, tragedy, horror, and dark fantasy. Because these stories teach us to appreciate, love, accept flaws, have empathy, and learn to be "human."

By reading psychological, tragic, and even dark stories, we learn to feel the suffering of others without having to experience it directly. This fosters empathy and compassion. This allows us to better understand others' feelings, thoughts, and even weaknesses without judging them.

"Humans will never be able to understand each other if they do not share the same suffering." - Pain (Naruto)
