So, yeah, I made a new volume (a rewrite, actually) for my Saint Series of novels (Volume 20, and the old V20 will become V21). Now, I'd like to beseech your aid in helping me decide about an illustration I made for cover of V20. This is the image in question:

I originally intended this as a cover for V20. But then, I realized, it also can fit my style for the back covers I made for my series. As you can see, it's still in pencil lineart form. I'll ink it tomorrow, as part of my efforts not to fall asleep during our annual teachers' seminar. However, I can't decide about the colors and style; part of me wants it to be cover, another is for back cover.

Now, for reference, this is how my covers for Arc 5 (V18 to V21) look like:

Gun enthusiast (i.e. nut) here. There isn't anything too wrong with the grip, outside of it not being very intuitive for shifting into combat

Not like that she ain't. You realize how much torque and tension that'd do. No. Sure some rifles you could rack a round from underneath but that is unusual. Plus, bro a shield and rifle? A more practical design is a fire slit in the shield. But this is for fiction and I won't say it's necessary for my gripes to be pay attention to.

I'm from the Philippines, a country that bans guns for their citizens most of the time (we need permits after grueling psychological tests, or if there's an immediate threat to us that the police can't quickly provide protection. And only pistols/revolvers are allowed; shotguns, carbines and rifles should only be possessed by security forces). So yes, I have no intimate knowledge of guns other than see them being wielded on TV.

She's a dwarf from another world, and that's a rifle that was based on existing designs, though still fundamentally different to existing models in this world. So Earth physics may not necessarily apply.

There's already a bullet casing with smoke. I guess it isn't obvious coz of the pencils. It will be noticeable once colored.

It's the low-ready position used primarily for ARs. But it seems she's holding the bolt, so she could be looking to reload.

You know guys, I'm ASKING YOUR OPINION IF THE IMAGE I MADE IS BETTER FOR COVER OR BACK COVER, not if my character's grip is correct. If I want accuracy, I'll just head to Google and look for references, which is easier to do than to solicit your opinions on gun handling.

For one, I live in a country where ordinary citizens can't buy or have guns. Second, this takes place on another universe, different from Earth and its physics. And third, she is of a different race, a dwarf, to be exact. I think it's pretty obvious I don't give a damn about accuracy here, nor do I care about common tropes regarding certain races.
