For instance, character parallels to another?
I think on that note, one story I did. The protagonist was parallel to the antagonist. They were pretty much two sides of the same coin.
On the fundamental level, they were similar. They both shared the same goal, they were both very devoted.
They do what is necessary. At the core, they were very much alike.
The difference was the method on one point, a breaking point that had them on opposite sides. Just one thing the protagonist could not allow, which ends up being the reason for their growth throughout the story.
In the end, the two were like mirrors of one another.
