So, I know the ancient saying, there are no bad cliches, only bad way to use them,
Cliches aren't always bad, they provide an easy template for the author to work on and develop his characters.

But, we do have to admit that many cliches are very over used at this point, (example being MC waking up in a forest and meeting a carriage filled with rich people who will adopt him), and there are some which don't make sense, (mc freeing a slave, and then the slave wants to remain a slave for mc)

Not just isekai, these are all over all the genres, especially in romance, where the cliche of MC got cheated on is slowly getting overused.

But, what are the cliches you love? What are the cliches that you want to see more, and feel like they aren't getting that much spotlight?

Jerk with a Heart of Gold.

It's hard to do right, but when it is you better believe that they will probably become one of my favorites.

I actually kinda like this but only if it's the way Arifureta/Shield Hero does in that instead of staying a slave-master relationship, the two become actual friends/lovers who fight for each other and complement each other.

I don't know which ones need more spotlight, though. I mean, if they don't get enough spotlight or are not used, are they even cliches? I might have misread that part but yeah.

I personally love the nakama power/all your powers combined finishing blow cliche in manga. In adaptation, you'll probably also hear the OP play in the background while it's happening.

Maybe something like how Nurarihyon did it.

Or maybe Magi

Heck, even when Naruto did it, I loved it

Eager Isekai Protagonists. People who are just, really happy to get the fuck off of Earth. Oh, also I love passionate characters in the first place. Like Ernesti Echevalier in Knight's & Magic. His earnest love of mecha gives me life.

The cliche where that one whiney side character ends up becoming a badass(think that vid from ProZD). I just love it when they go all be careful who you bully in highschool.

Oh and also what Eternal said above with the master-servant becoming genuine friends.

High school reunions where the nerd who was bullied in school shows up super successful with a hot spouse/spice.

Kinda ironically, but noble girls challenging the protagonist for a duel (and inevitably falling for him lul). "Kettou moushikomimasuwa!" indeed.

Kind of hard when someone like Hugo is your Protagonist. Maybe Marina could become one or Erika when she gets older.

Heh, Marina was already something to the effect, often exposing her panties without noticing it.

But yeah. It's unrealistic for Hugo to be clumsy like that. Hmm, maybe Theo can be his replacement. The readers would be angry if he gets ecchi moments with Hugo's harem though. :s_tongue:

They are only feeling uncomfortable because they are projecting themselves through Hugo, or at least trying to, and when this happens, they feel like they are being cucked in some way.

I don't mind any cliches even this tbh. I just want it done right. for ex: make the MC suspicious and give the nobles a reason to adopt him, maybe they know about heroes popping up in forests.

My favourite cliche is when two characters hang out and one of them spontaneously asks the other, out of the blue, "wanna fuck?" and they actually do.

or maybe just the cliche of someone doing mundane stuff, having an idea out of nowhere, and actually committing to it.

That's...your life, isn't it?

This reminds me of another cliche i dislike, people treating mc like a noble since he has a surname

wasn't this thread about what you like lol. but actually i don't mind this. the only thing that i dislike is constant last moment power ups, and maybe, baggage slave harem girl where she's just there for the MC to save her. but then again it's all about execution. if you dissect most novels/movies, you'll find they usually follow the same script. it's just that when it's done right, you don't notice it
