So I am thinking of writing a story and publish it here on Scribblehub, but I have seen many authors here whose works have been stolen/plagiarized and I fear it may also happen to me. So, I am thinking of publishing my story on multiple platforms so as minimize the threat of plagiarism.
So I request you all the readers to inform me about as many platforms as you can and also read my story when it is published(all will be notified via a thread). :s_smile:

Royal Road, Honey Feed, Tapas.

Also, a good method to stop bots/scrapers/stuff from being stolen is to put images, tables or to have weird formatting (like you'll find in litRPGs). Those are generally impossible/difficult to copy paste over and require a lot of tedium on the theif's side to recreate it.

Wouldn't that just result in them copying the errors too?

Or be like KR sites with the texts as image and preventing right click? Does it prevent screenshot and pic to text though?

Easy right pure trash that nobody will ever want to copy it. But jokes aside use weird formatting techniques that make it hard to copy

Not sure. I know Honey Feed has the text as an image thing and you can't do anything to copy it (from what I've tried). But I've personally seen bot sites unable to copy major sections of my story (which had the funky text/tables/images).

But from RR to Scribble or vice versa the chap/story will have a near 1:1 copy, so it's a really good idea to have a story on at least both sites (It'll bring over the images, tables, formatting, etc).

SIMPLE if I steal a story from a particular website and plan to publish it on another, but the story is also there so where do I publish the story

have you ever read a story on reaperscans, they put text like ""THIS STORY IS PUBLISHED ON REAPERSCANS BY ______"" when changing the situations or when changing perspectives. I am thinking of doing something same. And I think I will also insert images in between.
Thanks
Royal Road, Honey Feed, Tapas.

Instead of mentioning names can you provide me url's and weird formatting is also a good idea
Thanks

That is good. But does it actually deter it from being stolen?

Afaik, yes, you can tell the readers in aggregator sites that "hey, this shit's stolen, go read at official website" and people might go to the official site and read it. Which does not prevent it from being stolen but at least helps readers not go to the aggregator sites.

Then there is another funny issue; is the official site with a paywall? If yes, then of course people are willing to go to the aggregator sites.

Yes, I will be seeing alot of asian porn and have scrambled text, making my reading experience that much shittier, but at least it is free.

As an author, do what you must to protect your work, but there is only that much you can help yourself.

There's a site called RoyalRoad, it's quite good. You'll have no worries about your story being stolen. Though it's mainly focused on Litrpg but I'm pretty sure it has a large fan base to read any genre.
2nd, you can try the writing.com, it's quite good as well. Keep on writing!

I think that doing something like that is a good idea since I recently realized that someone copied my entire youtube Channel to tik tok and got a lot of followers xD

But I don't think that having unusual formatting would help a lot as it's not hard at all to crawl that as well. Also, to me it happened that my story was copied onto the stealer's site, so uploading to various sites doesn't help with that. One more thing is that there are maaany sites like these (I know about 10 online stories sites) and it would be very hard to publish to every one of them, unless you make some kind of bot that distributes your chapters to various sites. I'd make something like that, but it might be hard if these sites use some anti-bot technology and they probably do.

It did happen to me. And it wasn't even like a popular story. It had only a few chapters and barely any readers, but some bot crawled it and put it on someone's site.

All of my SH works have been stolen, so I get you. The problem? I no longer care that my books get stolen. :sweating_profusely:
Since SH doesn't allow books not in English, I started posting them on AO3 and DeviantArt. DeviantArt is better because you can make your book into a PDF and publish it in a single day.

Same mood. I publish my works for free, so steal it or not, jokes on the pirate. Yarrrgh!

Mine's (it's published in HoneyFeed, not here though) got published in some aggregator sites. My only issue is that, when the aggregator took my work, it didn't 'steal' everything, so only the 2nd arc is up in their site. ??

I'm in arc 4 now.

even if the story is stolen I just want the readers who deserves their appreciation and curses and not some 200 pound shitface virgin sitting in their mama's basement, wasting his/her mother's hard-earned money and stealing someone else's work

So I thought I'd check out some of these sites.
I went to Tapas and right on the front page was a promotion for something called black mirror and the picture was of a guy's ass and another guys was grabbing that ass and shoving a finger up said ass. Not subtle or suggestion, but an ass with a finger jammed up it.

So...

Why do people look down on Scribble Hub, again?

One place NOT to post is webnovel. They want to own your story and own you. Just remembered that since I finally got my first contact from them trying to get me to sign up with them. Never go to them, even if they have huge reader counts, from what I hear those are inflated anyway.

Royal Road is my next site I am considering posting on, only real bad things I've heard about it are that reviews are a bit harsh.

I really was thinking of posting on Webnovel but I had a gut feeling that I shouldn't, so webnovel dropped and I don't really care about bad reviews because there always be some people who are avatars and emissary of hatred and I choose to believe that there are more people who can offer constructive criticism.
Thanks
