Looking for fiction where the MC plays a game and the action in the game is slowly revealed to have real-world consequences.

Hmm...

Started to read
[Saving the World in an Apocalypse-Style Text Game]

Didn't really expect to like it... but

I kind of am... for the moment

Personally, I am not a big fan of Souls or Elden Ring-like games...

but the author really likes it and it shows, lol

I'm actually translating that novel under the name I Saved The World In A Doomsday Text Game, I heavily edit the chapters to ensure that terms, genders etc stays the same since a certain company is releasing crappy mtl as actual translations. Don't know how far you've gotten in the story but check it out if you can't stand the quality of their version.

I'm also translating another one that fits the criteria you are looking for called I Became The Vampire Progenitor, here is the synopsis:

Li De accidentally gets transported into a virtual game that won’t be released for another year. He becomes the vampire's progenitor, an ancient being hiding among humans to learn magic, and gains control of an ancient castle along with 200 bloodline descendants.

Though he can still return to Earth temporarily, Li De faces a major challenge: in one year, the game’s public beta will begin, and players will enter the world. As a vampire, he must find a way to grow stronger and prepare his race to survive the impending arrival of these players, who could become a massive threat.

This is the story of how a vampire progenitor and his descendants team up with humans to cultivate resources, master magic, and build a thriving community in order to withstand the coming storm.

You can find both of them for free on Patreon, or on my main site.

It's not really a virtual game, it's what people think is a virtual game. The mc knows it's a real world but the players all assume they are playing a game. It's a more kingdom building type of novel.
I am more looking for something that there is a game and there is a real world, sort of separate things....

I have one I'm working on where the game and the real world are more connected than most believe but most of the action is set inside the game's virtual reality. So far (part of two chapters and all of the very first take place in the "Outer World")...
But the MC had never heard of the game before he literally became a part of it. Not sure if that is "close enough" to what you're looking for or not?

I was think more like enders games, the game for the mc is really just a game.

or just the mc?
May be just the mc

Like... there was that novel, where the mc was playing a village simulator and turns out the villagers are real people in another world, and they send things to the real world, but the mc and the villagers don't really crossover till the very end.

Wish I could remember the name of it - there was a book that pretty much reversed what you're looking for - a character wakes up as a skeleton in a necromancer's army, only he remembers another life, kind of, and breaks free of the necromancer's control - only to discover he is a character in a video game (there is even one moment where he winds up in the offices of the guys who make the game before they figure out how to send him back). One of the programmers realizes he's become aware, tries to stop him, and then realizes it is futile as he keeps waking up and tries to find a way to help him instead. Was a very cool, complicated story, a bit rough at the beginning - a guy I gamed with gave it to me back either just before I left Chicago ('99) or just after I found a group out here (2001) and I don't remember much more about it.
But, again, it's pretty much the reverse of what you want so probably not relevant if I could remember the title.
