So yeah. I been trying to find this old Japanese light novel I read partially many years back. Like, back before Scribblehub and Wuxiaworld and when translating novels became mainstream. Like, back in the Bakatsuki days.
I remember it was a otherworld story where the main character was adopted. The Hero and Demon Queen married each other and had several children, later adopting a young MC. The MC was ordinary, not sharing any OP skills like his adopted siblings. He attended some kind of school where one of his sisters attended and she didn't want it to be known they were related for some reason.
Another sister was a captain of a knight order I believe, and he had a very young sister too. I think his father once taught him a technique that allowed him to burn his life force in return for great power, to only be used in desperate situations. And he used it to save a girl when he was a child that ended up being a princess.
Anyway, a vivid detail I remember is he had an older sister who doted on him. And another is a scene where he was eating with his sisters (i dunno if his parents passed away or just went somewhere) and the youngest sister was a brat who said something like ".....you are the only one at the table blood ties" and she was later chastised by the eldest sister because the.MC had doted on the youngest the most back when she was growing up so the eldest sis thought it was especially wrong that she could say something like that to him.
That's mainly what.i can recall. I think another sister was employed by some.other nation and was away, but yeah. Most of the world knew of the sisters but not the MC. It was a story that's definitely a decade or more old. Definitely before 2016.
