For well over a year I have been interested in using the concept of Quarternions (4dimensional numbers) in a setting of mine and understandably would like to talk to a proper mathematician about it, since I can't gauge whether I actually understood the concept and how it would apply to a setting.
I have taken to twitter to use hashtags and almost daily tweets to find any professionals in the field interested in fantasy and fiction to see if they would have some inputs, but to no avail.
I am wondering whether there is a better way to find proper scholars and mathematicians that are willing to talk about these things, the mathematics and topology hashtags on twitter are very sparsely populated.

What do you mean, four dimensional numbers? Numbers don't have dimensions. They are amounts.

Those are one-dimensional numbers. Complex numbers are an example of two-dimensional numbers. Vectors also dimensional numbers, so are coordinates.
What even is the difference between Mathematicians and Sci-Fi writers?
The same difference as between criminologists and crime writers.

Vector:
a quantity having direction as well as magnitude, especially as determining the position of one point in space relative to another.
A vector is not a number. It is represented by numbers, but it is not a number, therefore it does not count.

Numbers are numbers and represent amounts. They have no dimensions.

From you example, a d&d character is a 6 dimensional number, because it has str, dex, con, int, wis, and chr.

That's just silly.

Stop using Twitter to find anyone with a semblance of intelligence. That place is a cesspool of idiocy. While there are some big figures on the site, you're unlikely to get their serious attention. If you are looking for an honest conversation about math, probe Reddit or go to a local university and bother a professor in person with notes and actual questions you may have. You may need to set up an appointment, but I know a few of my old Profs had open door hours for students or whoever to stop by and bullshit with them. Or try reading books or open-source thesis' on the topic.

In such a niche field/subject, you're unlikely to find an individual you can just walk up to and have a random conversation. They're busy and unless they're interested in fantasy, they're unlikely to give you the time of day. But, if you put it up on an open forum where the math people hangout/browse, you're more likely to catch one's eye.

Best of luck!

Vectors are numbers with a direction.

EX: 5 m/s at 30 degrees

Velocity is a vector, it has to have a direction otherwise it is a speed.

You could have just googled Quaternions instead.

"In mathematics, the quaternion number system extends the complex numbers. Quaternions were first described by the Irish mathematician William Rowan Hamilton in 1843[1][2] and applied to mechanics in three-dimensional space. Hamilton defined a quaternion as the quotient of two directed lines in a three-dimensional space,[3] or, equivalently, as the quotient of two vectors.[4] Multiplication of quaternions is noncommutative."

Also, yes, a DND character CAN be expressed as a single point in a six-dimensional space. Or as two points in three-dimensional space. Just input the stats into a coordinate system and you'll get a single point encoding several values. That's how vectors work.

try asking on genshin impact discords, especially theorycrafters. these people are usually expert on maths or anything number related. keqingmains among them might be a good one as well, since they did a lot of maths in their guides.

i'm suggesting genshin impact since it's one of the most popular games, and it's more likely that one of them might take interest in your question.
