Let me be honest, it is hard to draw and write at the same time. You need to be free from time restraints to do it. At some point, I was like that, but then the world decided to change and so I had to adjust or be left behind. It doesen't help that I was already in a rough position. The difference might be that I understand that I put myself here. I only blame myself for my struggles.

I currently can't write and draw at the same time even though I want to. I don't have enough time to do both anymore, I come to learn and accept what I can and can't do.

So I feel pretty bad all things considered.

You grit your teeth and then just go wring it and that's it.

Not much of another choice if you want to continue drawing from a certain point on, if you are going to be happy doing that is up to you. It certainly isn't for everyone.

But most of the time, long hours, gritting your teeth and just keeping going.

It isn't a noble title to have that you think it would be. It's just a little extra you add, just like any other seasoning you add when cooking.

How does it feel being an artist?
It's fun, and inexpensive coz I get to draw my own novel.

I can also make extra money with my skill, with the knowledge well-suited for covers and in-chapter illustrations. As for 'getting swamped' between writing and drawing, well, I just focus on one thing. This year, I'll focus on drawing, since I already finished my novel. But I'll still gonna write occasionally, to not burn myself out.

I've always been a middling artist at best (my best work before I started developing a slight tremor around 2003, was in painting three dimensional miniatures; I've also had some success with simple 3D art packages on a computer ... kind of ironic for someone with only one fully functional eye who really doesn't SEE 3D), so it is usually more frustrating that I can create something that is a poor, cartoonish version of what is in my head (hopefully my writing is more of a GOOD cartoonish version ... :D), but not the actual mental image. For a very short while I was actually decent with 2d inking but that talent did not last me long enough (and I prefer to work in colored pencils not inks).

This is pain. I've tried various ways to express my ideas; drawing has the highest barrier to entry if you want to be understood. I don't consider myself a writer, but I can accept the notion that I write toilet pulp—I just can't come to terms with the idea that I draw stickmans.

I consider myself neither a proper artist nor writer, so I guess in both case I feel like what I do is passable enough.

I do enjoy spending a few days coming up with a new cover for my novels whenever I finish a book. The new cover usually then serves as inspiration/motivation for writing.

Positive feedback loop.

You know how it feels being a writer?

That's how it feels. Pretty much exactly the same lol

You put in time and effort to improve, and then some people like it and other people don't and the most important part is that you like it, even if you can see where you have room for improvement. It's frustrating and rewarding in turns, and you never feel like you really have enough time to do everything with it that you want to.

Professional artist here. I was going to illustrate my story, then got feedback that my stuff looked like AI, or that it didn't match what the reader had in their head. Seems like it's better to just let the reader's imagination do the work.

But I like my art; maybe I'll use it to entice people to my Patreon, or whatever, and make inevitable MILLLLLIONS
