I need some movies that are profound or thought provoking. Im not doing this because of quarantine but because of a
Days worth of detentions.

Shit you can share any movie from any country as long as its mind blowing.

Siiiiiince i'm Korean, here comes your Korean fix :D

Movies considered classic mind-blowing + thought-provoking in Korea: Oldboy (2003), Lady Vengeance (2005), The Handmaiden (2016). All by the same director, in fact ._.
(but warning: may not be for the weak of heart, like me lol)

Thought-provoking movies I'd recommend that aren't necessarily mind-blowing: My Love Don't Cross That River (2013), about an old couple nearing the end of their lives :c it's an actual documentary-style movie but it's famous for a reason

Fitzcarraldo :blob_evil_two:

People died during the cast and indigenous people offered the director to kill the main actor.

I KNEW IT WAS MADE BY THE GERMANS. I CALLED IT EVEN BEFORE I GOOGLE SEARCHED IT. THESE SAME FUCKING GUYS STEAMROLLED THROUGH BELGIUM JUST TO OWN THE BAGUETTES. OF COURSE, WHY WOULDN'T THEY HAVE THE CREW CARRY AN ACTUAL CRUISE SHIP THROUGH AN ISLAND AND HIRE A LOCAL MILITIA FOR PROTECTION FROM THE LOCAL TRIBES.

I LOVE THE HANS MAN HOLY SHIT THEY'RE AWESOME

WWI or WWII? In the latter case, Belgium was a diversion to lure the Allies north. Collateral damage. :blob_evil_two:

But, yes, Germans. Herzog, the director, was offered by the studio to use special effects for the boat scenes. He declined without batting an eye. They would either carry a real ship across the hill, or there would be no film at all. He said the pain and suffering had to be real to be convincing.

And of course Kinski is legendary. He was a real psychopath.

Here's some massive recommendations from me for movies that will really Make You Think:

-Mind Game (2004)
-Broadcast News
-Being John Malkovich
-Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
-Paterson
-Starman (1984)
-Eat Drink Man Woman
-The Lost City of Z
-Space Fantasia 2001 Nights
-Harmony (2015)
-Okja

I don't know what kind of movies you actually like, so I underlined the anime (since SH users are usually weeaboos) and bolded the movies I think would be generally loved by fans of sci-fi/fantasy/adventure stories who want something a lot deeper than they usually get. But I love all of these movies (my favorite being Broadcast News) so any of them have my seal of approval.
