In the future, the virtual world has become nearly indistinguishable from reality. More and more people connect their consciousness to this digital realm to live and work.
However, this virtual world is not without its flaws. Programming bugs can occur, leading to anomalous events that disrupt the system.
To combat this, the world's administrators have established the position of "Technician" in every district. These individuals are responsible for repairing program errors and restoring order to the virtual society.
Enter Gu Fan, the new Technician in District K7. On his very first assignment, he is confronted not by a simple bug, but by a fullscale invasion of magical forces. He is even transformed into a cat. How can science combat fantasy magic? How will he get his body back? And in this digital realm, what is the true nature of magic?
Now a black cat, Gu Fan teams up with the eccentric genius Dr. Duo Bao and his assistant, Cha Jian. Together, they begin to turn the tide and unravel the deepseated truth of their world.

Through continuous encounters with magical phenomena, he gradually begins to analyze and understand the operational rules of magic within the virtual world. He was once turned into a black cat by a magician; even after regaining his human body, his form remains unstable. When his emotions become too volatile, he still transforms back into a black cat.
[Cha Jian] Female, 16. An orphan. A pure and adorable girl who serves as Gu Fan’s assistant. She unknowingly carries the "key" to the system, which allows her to open a hidden arsenal packed with a wide variety of gadgets and gear. She helps shield Gu Fan from danger and is responsible for fighting off monsters and providing comic relief during missions.
[Dr. Duo Bao] Male, 53. A bald, eccentric scientific genius. He excels at inventing bizarre and wonderful gadgets and serves as the team's think tank, providing technological support. The equipment from Cha Jian's arsenal often yields unexpected and powerful results after he modifies and upgrades it.
[Ti Yufei] Female, 18. An agent for the Bureau of Incident Management. She possesses exceptional tracking and investigation skills. Initially, she acted as the liaison between Gu Fan and the Bureau, but she later joins forces with his team to tackle exceptionally difficult cases.
[The Director] Female. The Grand Arbiter of Fate, a being who governs the lifespans of NPCs in both the virtual community and the magical world. To protect the system's "key"—Cha Jian—she brought the girl to a world beyond the system's surveillance. She guarded Cha Jian for 15 years under the guise of an orphanage director before eventually transferring Cha Jian's data to District K7 for her safety.
[A'Zuo & A'You] A pair of mechanical automatons forged from a magical alloy. They were activated by the Grand Arbiter of Fate to be the supremely powerful guardians of the unstable magical world. However, when they left to pursue the Grand Arbiter and the key she protected (Cha Jian), the magical world lost its essential protectors and plunged into chaos, leading to its invasion of the virtual community's world.
[Nian Wei] Female, 22. Cha Jian's older sister and the granddaughter of Nian Xingzhi, a guardian of the magical world. She is Vixili's mentor and is skilled in magic such as "BloodThread Connection" and "BloodBead Tracking." After the magical world fractured in a war over the system's key, Nian Wei, with the help of Vixili, Cha Jian, and others, ended the conflict and became the new guardian.
[Vixili] Male, 18. The virtual dataform of a cyborg. After his human father died in the real world to protect him, he fell into despair for a time. He was later guided back to the right path by his mentors, Phantom and Nian Wei. He is proficient in the "Invisible Thread Scrying" and "Invisible Chains" techniques. His magical abilities increased exponentially after enduring the trials of Monster Mountain.
[Mu Ling'er] Female, 12. An adorable girl with rabbit ears longer than she is tall, known as the "SkyListener." She can hear any sound within a fiftykilometer radius and is adept at listening to people's hearts to discern their true nature. She is quirky, clever, and Vixili's partner.

These individuals are tasked with repairing programming errors and restoring order to their respective virtual cities.
The Fangzhou Virtual World was originally created to study dark matter. Scientists discovered that dark matter is the primary component of the universe, accounting for over 95% of its total mass, while known matter makes up less than 5%. Since dark matter is both invisible and intangible, using a virtual world for simulated research became a viable path forward. The ultimate result of this research was the discovery that dark matter, and the energy it produces, can interface with human consciousness and thought. This energy, when bound by rules, can shape all things, much like chemical and physical reactions. Isn't this, in essence, magic? And thus, a world of magic was born within the virtual world.
The overarching goal for Unknown Equation is to set a benchmark inspired by The Matrix and Marvel Comics. We aim to expand each creative concept into a story that is profound, engaging, and full of imagination, ultimately building a IP matrix of interconnected hero origin stories, akin to the Marvel universe.
