This is probably more of a general nerd thing than a author specific thing, but do you have a favorite keyboard switch to type on when writing?

I recently got a new keyboard with "Cherry MX Red" switches, and it is pretty awesome. My fingers are very happy to type on something that isn't a surface pro type cover, lol. But thanks to my very nerdy girlfriend (who custom builds keyboards) I've learned there is a vast sea of different switches one can have, and I'm curious what everyone believes is the best for writing?

I have MX Browns in my G710+ I like it alright, haven't gotten to try any other types of MX switches.

I also have an old-school mechanical keyboard, so old it has a 5pin DIN connector that existed before PS/2, it's not bad to type on either.

Then again for several years, I had a CoolerMaster Storm Devastator "Mem-chanical" Keyboard, it was membrane but designed to have more travel and a bump, it was pretty good for $30 for the keyboard and mouse combo. But I do find the browns nicer to type on. I'd put it about even to the old-school buckling spring keyboard I have. There are ups and downs to both, hard to describe, but they don't matter much to me once I get used to one or the other.

I prefer Razer Clicky Optical for amateur writers, but for a balanced immersion, it's best suited to use Gateron Switches for long time durability. While even though Gateron Switches aren't easy to get used to, it's worth it for the long run. Although while I like Gateron Switches, I don't like the Romer-G switches, they aren't compatible with my fingers because my finger tends to hit a different key when I am using switches like that. In my opinion, I think Cherry Mx wins if it's about the softness because the Gateron Switches is smoothly blunt and loud. Then again, Gateron Switches is still by far the superior switch if it wasn't for its price. In any case, Scissor Switches are a pain in the fingers, while Mechanical Keyboard has a lot of merits.

I would add to this:
Are the keys big enough that I don't constantly hit the wrong key?
Are the key labels in the right place?

I have had to do data entry on a membrane keyboard that didn't meet these requirements, and it is just plain hard.

The first might be a factor but the latter for me isn't anymore. I've actually gotten so used to QWERTY that I can type without looking at the keyboard.

I like Cherry MX Blue, I have a Red one but they are a bit too sensitive for my taste for typing. They are great for gaming though.

Oh if you want to read about all the Cherry MX switches:

Ditto. I type on what I can afford. My best friend tried to get me interested in fancy keyboards when she was building my computer, but nothing she brought over really thrilled me.
