The Years of Lead, was a conspiracy theory that was proven after the end of the Cold War. It is quite crazy, but long story short Italian businessmen, lawmakers, and the CIA conspired to throw Italy into violence to dismantle its communist and anti-fascist groups as well as a load of other things. I highly suggest looking into it yourself as I can’t give it justice.
