Currently, I am writing the ending of Volume 04. Almost all of the endings I wrote so far have been… sad. I don’t want to change the current one, but I’m worried it might seem like I only write that kind of ending, or that it might start to feel a bit cliché. What would you do if you were in my position?

I don't claim to be an expert, but I say stick with your vision. You know your story best, including how volume 4 should end. And if your readers enjoyed and were engaged with the first thee volumes it likely won't bother them... but switching gears in a way you the writer are less enthusiastic about could disrupt expectations and bleed onto the page in a way.

I think you'd only start raising eyebrows about being cliché if you had multiple series all ending similar ways. Even then, might not register as cliché so much as "it's their thing, they're good at it. It's up my alley".

Write the story you'd be most happy with and feels correct to your vision. That includes the ending.
