Most stories have an endgame. A "goal" that the protagonist strives for. This is usually accomplished at the end of the story, and you're meant to enjoy the journey to achieve said goal.

But let's say I'm unsatisfied, even after the protagonist has killed the demon lord. What happens next? Does he go back to his world? Does he start a family with his lover?

I'd like a novel that has Action and a developing romance! And it needs to have side stories that allow me to see into their lives after the journey has finished.

It's because I'm usually left with this feeling I can't quite explain once I finish it.

For some reason, I can't help but remember Tsuyukote New Saga from your requirements.

Brutal seggs.
Either the Demon Lord's daughter and/or the demon lord themself. There must be sex. If the demon lord is a guy? Well... any hole's a goal.

Well, in Immortal Mortal, the MC only wants to be powerful. And in his path, he finds himself capable of becoming more powerful than he ever thought* he would be. But man, that novel is such a journey. I remember my desperation when I noticed only 200 chapters were left.

i agree with OP. sometimes you reach the end goal and it ends up feeling a little empty and you're like "why isnt there more? what happened afterwards?".

It's one of the thing i like about Arifureta is that the author kept the afterstories going (which have now actually well exceeded the length of the original wn) where he told the things the happened afterwards as well as new tales. it's grown almost to be a sequel in itself.

I’m so sorry. I read after final fight as after anal fight. Don’t know if I’m dirty-minded or simply just woke up.

Now, to answer your question. I think it’s very normal to feel that way. You just don’t want the story to end, that’s all. We all have that feeling when we finish a good movie or show or novel. Instead of feeling unsatisfied, I think it’s more like feeling the sense of longing, and that’s not a bad thing.

Usually, leaving it like that will make it even more memorable.

Though, it’s your story, so you can do whatever you want with it. If you want the readers to feel fully satisfied, and that’s all that matters, then just write a side story or after story (think, Arifureta). You can have the mc and his harem or friends live their lives in that world or go back to the mc’s old world. Either one is fine. The side story can be a whole arc on its own or it can be some fluffy slice of life. Your choice.

Like I said, it’s your story, so do whatever you want with it. As long as it’s fun, you’re fine.

One story I know that perfectly satisfies those requirements is Ending Maker (don't have a link at the moment, just google it).

It's a damn good story overall, and I'd recommed it to just about everyone regardless.

If you don't mind unashamed harem and some questionable plot developments, the Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest WebNovel has an "Afterstory" that's almost twice as long as the main story.

If there's any continuation it's almost always a "hundreds years later" or "next generation" stuff, not even really depicting what happened directly after. A real epilogue where the climax curve goes down to 0 and even the dumbest brick has no doubt it's over is a real rarity.

So write the change you want to see.
