Recommendations Stories with either, Clockwork automata or golems preferably as an army building genre

Some stories have pre existing (to the plot) golems but I haven't seen any where the MC builds them as part of the story, regarding clockwork automata I am not talking about sci fi type robots, but dwarven spheres and centurions from skyrim,
