I'd like to see certain topics as sticky threads so we can see more fresh topics in the "Latest Threads" section. Here are a few of the ones I would like to see, but this is by no means a complete list:
  • Why do people love/hate NTR?
  • Webnovel offered me a contract. Should I sign it?
  • How do you get on trending?

Stickies are reserved to things that are important to the new forum users to read about.

While I understand getting tired of some recurring topics, a sticky is not the way to go about it... Just let people discuss it. You don't need to read all discussions.

Don't think Tony will invest time to code anything for the forum or buy plug-ins to get extra features.

But I do think sticky threads would be helpful. STICK THAT FAQ THREAD ON THE FRONT PAGE FOR EVERYONE TO SEE.

serious question here, does people even check the stickied thread?

because I didn't

:
  • Why do people love/hate NTR?
  • Webnovel offered me a contract. Should I sign it?
  • How do you get on trending?
also, what do you want people to do then? necroing a thread with the same topic? I thought people here hate if someone necroing a thread?
I seriously doubt anyone would reply to those old thread compared to new ones anyway.

I wouldn't say this sticky thing is a bad idea, but I want to be assured that doing so would actually work to stop people from posting the same topic and they still receiving the answers they need.

I mean seriously, this whole repeat thread topic thing only happened because people still replying to those freshly new thread instead moving the discussion to the "original thread"

it ain't about they wanted to talk about those repeated thing, they wanted replies. that's the point.

Its actually a basic function built into most forum software, sometimes called "pinned threads."
But as @AliceShiki said, so many people just post without bothering to run a search or even check sticky threads that it often doesn't matter.

No matter what you do, you'll never manage to eradicate laziness or stupidity.

Instead.... maybe just ping a mod by reporting and merge threads instead,
I think they did that on nuf whenever there were some new law enforcements that gave translation groups existential crises...
and people keep asking the same questions. "What will happen to ______________ since _______________ is happening in (insert country)__?"

Merging a new thread into the old one seems like a better solution. Not that I'm against this one though.

That said... I just realized sticky threads are already a feature. I always browse from the 'What's New' tab, not the actual forums. So that might be a problem...

isn't it ironic that the one speaking out about repetitiveness replies to most threads with 1 of 4 default messages

Thread merging isn't something done that often... Like, it can be done if needed, but unless there is some big drama going on that spawns dozens of threads in a short period of time, the mods generally prefer to let people make thread #13489578246 about how much they love/hate harem.

Aoi-chan doesn't think any of those should be stickied. After all, what's stopping others from requesting their own threads to be stickied? There are only 21 threads in one page. If all of these are in the same section, then that means there would be only 18 threads on that page is left.

If we want to make 'important' threads stickied, then Ai-chan's Japanese school thread should be stickied, considering how so many people are writing about Japanese schools without knowing how Japanese schools are actually like. Sure, manga and anime did a lot of creative liberties with the setting, but that's just it, that's creative liberty. They took real Japanese schools and make it more bombastic than it actually is. The people here who write about Japanese schools are clearly influenced by anime and therefore take even more creative liberties on top of existing bombastic creative liberties. But if we do this, there surely would be other 'important' threads, and we'd have the whole first page being sticky like what public BBS used to be.

Besides, as @AliceShiki said, people don't even bother reading the forum rules. And as @Piisfun said, nobody bothers reading the pinned thread. Case in point, Writing Prompt. There is only one stickied thread, nobody reads it, because if they did, nobody would make those kinds of threads in the Writing Prompt section. It's right there, at the very top of the list, every single minute. Nobody reads it.

So Ai-chan thinks it should be up to the the mods to discuss what should be pinned.
