In windows, for anyplace you can type text:
if you hold the [Windows] key, and press the [.] key, it pops up a small window with three tabs. The first two are different types of emojis, the third tab is symbols. Your most recently used symbols are on the top of the list in that third tab.
My top row is: — – ‽ ° ℉ ℃ ∘
I find this useful because it works the same for any text entry field. I am currently using firefox, and if I hold Alt and pres 9834, I get j instead of ♪ (which I can get with alt + 13, per the chart above).
Also, that chart is incomplete; it is missing the N-dash and the interrobang. Aha, figured out the N-dash: 0150
Still, I'd rather have all my regular and semi-regular ones easily accessible instead of looking them up.
