I have read works that featured the power system to be about beast tamer and their sole soul mate beast. The human method to become stronger is to train with the beast and when the beast gets stronger, so do them.

And then I went through a lot of JP that featured pulling weapons out of one's body and thought if there is any story that has the soul contract on weapons as its main power system.

The weapon is obviously magical, maybe even sentient. They are made by gods/ higher beings/ nature and not by humans. If the weapon breaks, the contracted human dies. But if the human dies, the contracted weapon is ok.

Not referring to the Sacred Swordsmith.

stuart little is the weirdest fucking film everything looks so clean like a weird dream and every kid treats him like a normal kid in the orphanage and he "was there for a long time" so long that he knows every kid. can mice live that long? i guess if he talks he might have other magical properties. maybe we should have dissected him

Close to what I was looking for.

Maybe I could use this as a plot point, is the wielder still the wielder or has the weapon took over?
The wielder is still the wielder but the sword is evil and makes the wielder more evil the more they use it. If it is used too much then it will totally possess the wielder.

Book of Swords series by Fred Saberhagen — these swords are sentient to varying degrees and some are more attached to their wielder than others.

Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson — pretty powerful bound swords called Oathblades. Only one fully sentient weapon, though, a totally unhinged sword that loves killing people, which is first introduced in another standalone novel (Warbreaker)
