OK so... when you are watching Season 3 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds there's a scene where Captain Pike prays. I thought this is was amazing because in ALL of the Star Trek series, movies, and so on... all of them put together that has NEVER HAPPENED before!

This really is worth mentioning. Its incredible to think, OK how many star trek series we're up to... and they've literally never had a prayer scene in any of them until... its either Episode 1 or 2 of Season 3. Its also amazing because... well we're seeing how much crap there is in Hollywood recently and what the rumors say about them.

And this is good to mention because... if we want our world to be good, we have to support good behaviors, and good laws. Its OK if its not exactly like you or me, but just this idea of... good things happen when we support good behaviors and being good in our communities.

Note; that I'm not endorsing any particular type of denomination or religion and not going to go further than that.

Seems like an American insertion. :meowsip: Considering Picard being French, I do not see him praying from a pure lore perspective~.

it was kind of like expected in ancient history years ago that there was Christian themes and morals so they didn't have to announce it. Still a good change

The only characters who show much in the way of religion are Spock (Kolinahr), Uhura ("generic Christian") and, later Worf (an odd mix of Klingon and Christian, due to his unusual upbringing).
A big part of this was Rodenberry expected that the future would be one where religion was a trivial, personal thing and not a public spectacle, group marriage was common, and a benevolent Star Fleet managed the Federation's resources for the benefit of all members.

And I have to say I am usually impressed when a religious figure is shown in a positive light on television. It has gotten more common but one of my favorite examples was the CW series Black Lightning, where characters are not afraid to show their faith openly, and there is a priest who does some bad things at the start, but always has good motivations (he appears corrupt at first but that is partly to cover for someone else, and partly due to manipulation by Tobias Whale).

Hey Charles! Wow. That's a very good point. And I didn't know they made the Black Lightning show and character to have a faith system. Thanks.

It was a minor point but it was consistently done and important for a few characters (including the rogue spook who was Jefferson's mentor in the absence of Batman in the series), and I just loved it as something you almost never see. The religious figures are either cynical, hypocritical, or using their faith and power to mask something evil, almost every time.
Charmed did this once too, with a priest candidate (played by Micheal Weatherly before NCIS and Bull) also being a warlock and needing to be ordained to avoid becoming as evil as the rest of his family; one of my favorite early episodes of that show, really.
