To me in the past year or two the amount of stories in Scribblehub has increasingly been of these Chinese translations. This a bit of a problem considering I see no attribution and many of them beg for patron money. What makes this even worse is that most seem machine translated so you get stories where even the title is in a poorly translated state. These stolen and poorly translated stories should be removed from scribblehub.

Chinese translation in Scribble Hub? Are you sure you're not in the wrong place and referring to Novel Updates?

Aside from that, I fully understand what you mean. MTL can be trash in the hands of people who just want that ad moolah

I hate when you know it’s a translation, but the poster has changed the title so it is near impossible to find the original Chinese version.

I found a fake author like that recently. This guy translated Chinese, Japanese or Korean novels using chatgpt and acted like he wrote them. So shameless.

He would post some chapters for a novel and after a while, if it didn't gain traction he'd delete them and steal another novel to translate with chatgpt and act as the author. smh.

Btw, Lonely Melons is his account too. Doing similar stuff with R-rated novels.

I don't know why he pretends to be an author. Just say that you're translating them.

No they are here all over the place. Especially with stories that have some sort of "System". If it is a xianxia type story the chance of it being some ripoff translation is even higher.

Cuz he is a content stealing cunt.

And by saying that he is translating them, SH will automatically stop updating onto front page of SH.

But if you did tell Tony that you are TLing, he will put you onto NU frontpage instead.

Ps. But if you are MTLing, Tony can't really say anything but people WILL report you to hell.

I know of another thief. Behold SunMoonEarth, who reached the "famous author" title by machine translating other people's work and then asking for Patreon money over stories that aren't his. He's not the first one I've seen, only the most recent example I noticed.

This one is going to get me haters. I also highly suspect souryourer, because it's highly unlikely he actually makes 51 chapters a week here (1-5 chapters for each of his 18 stories) plus other chapters for other stories on similar sites. The dude works faster than Stephen King and Shakespeare combined. NOTE: I believe he's translating stories from India, not China. Not sure if that matters.

I agree that being able to put out so much material in a week is a giant red flag. Was not aware that Indian stories were getting the same content stealing treatment.

I didn't actually think he's translating them.
I actually read his stories once coz I was curious and I noticed plots are similar to his other works, but just have a different gender for the MC, have a different world setting (like Story 1 hops from one piece to naruto, while Story 2 hops from Pirates of the Caribbean to Demon Slayer) or are just hornier than the other. Just small changes here and there yet the tone and way of writing (which isn't really much, just bare bones) is pretty much the same with the rest.

If he's actually translating them, then it's probably from a single guy or his translation is also just bare bones.

I agree.
To support this, I wanted to say that most of their stories are about 1000 words a chapter, and since a lot of people think that they're translating, I'm leaning towards thinking that he probably writes a lot in a day for multiple stories that have the same plotlines (so he may actually copy some stuff from a story and use it for another one, just changing names and such). That's why they publish so much but seem not to have high-quality content.

All stories from countries with impoverished people get stolen. Third-worlders steal stories from their country that are in their language and translate it to English, and then steal our stories to translate it to their own language.

Honestly, if I was a lazy guy translating stories to gain traction and money...

NTR is popular in Asian countries, so they think it'll be popular in ours.

I didn't actually think he's translating them.

Hopefully, you two are correct. It's still hella sus that he'll pull 50k-70k words a week. Keep in mind he has stories on other sites that he didn't add to scribblehub too.

All Chinese (Japanese and Korean) novels are translated badly .

It's inevitable because of the differences between the languages, their sentences simply don't sound right translated to English, even if done by the actual bi-lingual translator.

You may understand what the sentence means, if you understand the language, but turning it into something that could be (unironically) turned into the English novel is a skill of its own, roughly equivalent to writing the novel yourself, which, obviously, most people cannot do.

All that Japanese and Chinese novels we get before the rise of the AI translation sounded as bad when the humans did it, which was still the case just a few years ago. ChatGPT ironically didn't make the translation worse, it just made it cheaper, and thus more widespread.

Report them.

I always report every translation, and Tony is pretty fast in hiding them. There were multiple days when novels that were translations, appearing on trending, got yoinked off.

So, if anyone comes across a translation, just report it and it will get hidden as per the rules.
