just curious if it might be a smart idea to post a sneak peek of a chapter (like 500 words of the upcoming chapter) a couple days before i post it?

wanted to know if that might help viewership, or be seen as a let-down?

thank you.

Let down. It's like you started diddling the readers, but you stopped as the readers were just getting into it.

Not sure there'd be much point to it in this medium. Unless you're teasing future chapters on your patreon (chapters that will eventually show up here as well), it seems it would be more effort for both you AND the readers than it would be worth.

lol good advice. i won't do it. it was just an idea i had but wanted to run it by other authors first.
Jokes aside, there is a use for this. However, likely not in this form. On Royal Road. What I do at the start of a volume, is give a bit of the story before they jump in.

Sorta like sampling before heading in, it can be pretty effective. Though, put it under a spoiler tag and alert in a note.

The "sneakpeek" is one of the reason readers skip prologues. They don't want spoiler. Other is infodumps.
