In many stories where the protagonist has some kind of cheat, golden finger or what not, unless the author is so creatively bankrupt that they can't even bother to do that and just write whatever, or if the story is coming to the end, the story ends up servicing the cheat more than the protagonist, if you know what I mean.
I thought, has there ever been a story where this flaw has been pointed out and capitilized upon, and where the protagonist is seriously faced with a problem where their lives revolve around the cheat and they feel addicted to the material benefits it brings but inside they feel spirituallly dead and like a slave? I thought it'd be neat to read smth like that.

Dying for a Cure by StrongHorse

Guy gets Isekai'd with cancer into a world of magic. Cue healing magic might exist and his own skill is, I want to say "double-edged sword" but that doesn't truly describe it.

Warning: MC is an insufferable twat.
