Iirc I watched the first one long ago. It was a pretty good comedy for the laughs with family or friends.

I didn't watch the following installments, but what I've seen and heard they went downhill. Like most movies, honestly.

I didn't really enjoy the original movie back in the day

It will be bad. This is not based on anything other than the 5. They should have stopped at the first. I watched 1, 2, and 3, but the first one is the only one I remember.

If any movie series is going to actually be good on the 5th installment, it’s going to be Shrek. The worst Shrek movies weren’t much worse than about half of the stuff Disney came out with, and the most recent Shrek spin off was declared pretty great by the internet at large. With that said, the odds still aren’t in Shrek 5’s favor.

1 was gold, 2 was peak, 3 was not that great, and 4 was good but not what anyone was really expecting.

As long as they don't involve current-year politics and don't have people who almost hate themselves as much as the rest of humanity producing it like Disney or nearly anyone else everywhere else the movie will be good. Sure, it will be perceived as worse than the other movies, but chances are it could still be a good movie.

They've shown they can make good movies and aren't catering to current politics. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, but Chances aren't looking good.
