Should the Naruto fanfic be a normal story then

Should I make my Naruto fanfic idea into an orginal series?

While casually posting an idea I had in my head not really thinking that anyone will pay much mind I got an unexpected feedback from the forum wandered, urging me to make it an original series since the fanfic deviated so far from the original that it might as well be.
I decided to run with it, mostly because of
kitty.
So I made this poll to get my final decision before I actually start in a few days.
Luckily for me, I was still in planning stage so no time or creative energy lost yet.

In my personal opinion, I enjoy fanfics that don’t follow along the main stories. There is currently a Naruto fanfic where the story takes place in Hidden Cloud village, that’s awesome to me. It’s still ‘Naruto’ but it’s from a completely different angle.

but at the end of the day, you should write what inspires you. Cause while it may take us readers 3 minutes to read a chapter, for a writer that may take 1-3 HOURS (if not more) to write.

are you going to put in the effort, research the world, look up side characters, and create a detailed plot, taking these various elements into account?
If the answer is yes then you should make a fanfic.
If the answer is no then you should also make a fanfic for the ez views.

I'll stick by rules and regulations.
If you have characters and universe that belong to another author, no matter how far it strays away from the original story it is still a Fan Fiction.

For the first answer: the story takes place in a world where the main plot of Naruto doesn't even happen and takes a much different route than canon, so maybe? It won't matter since Naruto and the rest of Konoha ninjas are in their early twenties and never met Naruto or Sasuke and the Akatski aren't out to make peace through wars and Madara is fine since I made him immortal.
For the second part: Views wasn't my goal, I just had an idea and thought people will enjoy it, sure views are nice, but I'm more interested in making a fun engaging story.

The Konoha ninja's will be their early twenties while Naruto lived outside of Konoha with his mother.
Oh, now that makes sense. Anyway, if you go forward in the timeline, there will be Boruto and the main cast. If you go backward, there is a secondary cast, there is ninja war and other stuff. As I said, I'm not a Naruto fan, so I can't remember\tell about all the things you should look for. So, you should still research a lot of stuff if you want Naruto world to remain as Naruto world.

And I would like to ask you another thing, are you a Naruto fan? I can get it if you want to write fanfiction if you are a huge fan(or if you want easy views). But from what I've seen, you are not that much of a fan. Perhaps you really like the world, but the story itself is lackluster for you? You don't look like a hardcore fan, so I can't understand why you are so adamant. In the first place, if you were that much of a fan and wanted to write a fanfic, you wouldn't ask about our opinions. You would write it.

I think you can do whatever with writing as long as you have appropriate expectations from your story. So instead of asking others, ask yourself why you want to do this or that. Perhaps it's a passing thought. Anyway, you do you; good luck in your endeavors.

For the first part: There is no Boruto cause Naruto hasn't met Hinata yet, most of the story like the great ninja war will not occur cause in my version Obito and Madara are no longer interested in making a war happen.

For the second: Nah, I'm not a hardened Naruto fan, I just like the world and characters and you are right, the story is border line mediocre in my eyes.

Also, what's the point of writing something if no one's interested.

Do you have any idea how much better a million stories would have been if the creators asked someone outside of their immediate friend group for insight on how some plot points should be handled and tweak it a bit so it would be better for the audience to enjoy.

Also, doing what you want and hoping someone somewhere out there will like it, ain't my style. I don't work on if's or maybes; I work on getting a consensus of my idea's to confirm if I should adjust it.

Then it means that when you said you are not doing it for the views, you weren't sincere.

As @K5Rakitan would say: Write the story you want to read, and someone else will also love it. Which means: write for yourself.

Btw, friends =\= your target audience, people on forums =\= your target audience either. Also, as I said above, if you aren't content with the notion that someone somewhere out there will like your story, then you are after the views. Which is normal and perfectly okay; I'm after the views myself. Now that we know this fact, I'm sure you should write fanfic. As it will give you more views\recognition\attention\consensus\recognition or whatever other word you want to use.

how would people enjoy it if you get no views? you can lie to yourself, but you can't lie to me mate. everyone wants the ego boost, myself included.

The majority of those would've turned out for the worst. people are morons, and the more opinions you have, the worse the outcome.

I didn't say you should listen to everything a few groups of people say, some of the plot points for my story that I thought were great I had to adjust them cause I had people give me some insight on how bad it was and these were from the people that aren't even interested in the story at all.
Listening to people, especially your audience, is a very huge mistake no denying it, but choosing to ignore everything they say just to put a story that will age like milk is even worse.

As @K5Rakitan would say: Write the story you want to read, and someone else will also love it. Which means: write for yourself.
I don't think writing for yourself is the best method, especially if you are publishing it. Sure write what you want to read, but5 writting for just yourself is madness un less you plan on never publishing it.

The thing is I do write for myself sorta, it's a mix of me and people that find the nonsense in my head interesting, but if you go on and do it primarily for you and no one likes it, what's the point?
