Should I Create Separate Accounts for Different Types of Writing?

I primarily focus on plot, world-building, and character development in my main web novel. However, I sometimes write explicit content as a way to overcome writer's block and get back into the creative mindset. I’m considering uploading this explicit content to platforms like SH and possibly creating a Patreon page for it.

My concern is whether I should create separate accounts for my main web novel and explicit smut writing to keep them distinct. My current Patreon account is linked to my Twitter, and I’m worried that if someone finds the explicit content offensive or inappropriate (I wrote pretty degen stuff in my smut stories), it could reflect poorly on my main writing and social media presence.

What do you think? Should I set up new accounts for my explicit content to keep things separate, or is there a better approach to handle this situation?

I trolled around years ago with fanfiction (on a German site though) where I had a few different aliases for funzies. The last one I made was because that's where the most fucked up stuff was uploaded though, the kind you wouldn't want to have under your name.
But yeah, I don't necessarily think it's needed, especially on SH, where smut will likely shine more light on your account and thus could lead to more exposure on your main project.
I understand the point is that readers know what to expect, thus I do feel like the thought makes sense. But it depends on how many "serious" projects you are going to write. If it's mostly that one, there won't be a need for distinction.
And I mean, people will know what they are reading because of the tags. :blob_cookie:

That's what I do. One penname for my serious work and Dieter for comedy and slice of life. Both have different patreon too.
I don't have any demons I fight with so I don't really care if people find out I'm two in one.

Anyway, kn1is7otaku, i agree with TheKillingAlice.
Its fine to post all as its SH, but also depends on the circumstances / works.

Wouldnt want to post a Wholesome and Guro work together.

..................well, there are exceptions, weird cases like Nanashi774 author of Nagatoro (that snapped his whole history art of pixiv), and the author of REDO HEALER, that did some very nice fine isekais before (which at same time, had weird vibes bc sudden serious too serious moments).

BUt if you check some jp artists
you can find out, in the past they did or still do some unpopular / niche fetishes, but that doesnt stop them to continue doing their main popular work/stuff.
But ofc, its bc the difference between, arent big or problematic (like 774 nagatoro).
Or too unpopular or too distant to be problematic
(example : once glimpsed in releases, manga about a noble kid x bunny girl, shota x girl growing together, and in summary TL said : Warning if you check the artist past works, he does NTR works. So yeah, rarely people will bother look to danbooru or pixiv to be a problem for this and too unpopular/small manga)

Just create separate account.
A teacher was like, fired of his job, just bc he had "youtube channel". Despite channel being mega safe topics etc.
Reason that "it made him too close to the students" hence "can't keep the teacher aura"

So like him, if you got X / socials linked to your job or close ones or etc.
Yeah, you DONT want things to go bad.

I eagerly wait for the explicit content.

Also, just a grain of salt since I myself is doing it, just make a separate account with an email that can't be traced back to you.

Helps with deniability in case your explicit content is too explicit.

I have. This acc is for clean and beautiful stuff that you can find everywhere. The HerUnholinessPreacher is for anything too dark for the dark web.

I would recommend them separately if you don’t want the fictions to reflect on each other in the eyes of the viewers. Especially if kids enjoy the non explicit content and then check out the explicit content thinking it will be to their liking too due to sharing the same author.

Someone asked me if I would make another account when I started to write smut with sadist MC. The reasoning was, I had just one story at the time - a serious GL fantasy. The question was whether or not the audiences would mix and result in a negative impact on my stats.

I decided to post on this account. For one, I am not ashamed of my work.
And for two, I don't want to be pigeonholed into writing just one thing and fear my readers would react negatively on one topic or another.
I want to write whatever I like and won't give my readers power over it.

And before you ask, no. There was no negative impact on my stats as far as I can tell. People didn't mix all that much either.
I made it clear what the stories contain, so there have not been issues with that.

I think it's reasonable, since I saw an author who writes a scifi story tried writing a fanfic on the side and the explicit content was bought into question in his scifi story's comments and twitter that he took down his fanfic and deleted his twitter after few days his scifi story was gone as well. I don't think I will ever be as popular but I just want to be safe since I don't know wtf I will write when I am in the mood to write some smut.
