Tentative Thread Purpose
This shall be a place to philosophize about personal life goals and desires, with respect to online personas, play, reading, writing, profile pictures, and character sheets.
Explanation
Lot's of people on this website are obsessed with LitRPG, game elements, and character sheets, especially in their reading, writing, and community games preferences. I thought it would be fun to casually think more deeply about these things in a thread, post, conversation medium, with a focus on introspection.
K, it's hard for me to explain, but if you have a foggy idea of what I'm talking about now, then great.
Also, I definitely don't mean for people to share personal information online!
Example
For fun and self-improvement I made a real life character sheet of myself. The different categories of the character sheet were [Information], [Stats], [Skills], [Achievements & Titles], [Equipment], [Inventory], [Likes & Dislikes], and [Strengths & Weaknesses]. On my character sheet I included hopeful and prospective entries that I hope to achieve in my lifetime, and I included entries that were also very negative about myself by transforming mistakes I've made into accurate titles that I have earned. I did this as an interesting self-discovery exercise to help me identify my ideals, desires, things I like and dislike about myself, and what I want to change/achieve in the future.
It really puts a lot of my life into perspective and makes me think about what I could/want to add to my character. It's a very odd way to gain motivation in life to do things. Since game elements such as EXP, skills & levels, status windows, and all that stuff doesn't normally exist in my life I have to be creative; since there is no system to assess me this way and alert me to changes in my status I have to become the system and give myself notifications.
I had read somewhere in applied psychology that introspective writing is much more effective than introspective musing in making a difference in a person's life. By physically writing out hopes, dreams, achievements, mistakes, strengths, and weaknesses a person makes a stronger impact on their life. Just musing is like a passing thought or daydream, easily forgotten and mostly meaningless.
