Which sin is the strongest, if they were literal evils, and why? I’d love to hear your interpretation of Christianity’s sins.

This isn’t research for my book, not at all.

Greed. All you have to do is look at the state of the modern world.

Or rather, Greed is the most dangerous in people. If we are talking about a supernaturally empowered Incarnation of a sin, then either Wrath or Lust. Wrath is very directly dangerous, not much to talk about, but Lust can be utterly and completely demented and depraved, a true horror show of pure malevolence, malevolence for the sake of entertainment.

With Wrath, all you have to worry about is dying. And pretty much only if you tick off the bearer. If it's really personal, you might get tortured. But with Lust, you're a target even if you do nothing, and you will BEG for death.

Wrath is stronger, but you should fear Lust more.

Greed is indeed attributed to some of the most destructive things humans have done. But is it the most destructive?

Lust is a fun sin to write about *crack knuckes.

Greed, as most other evils are attached to or revolve around that one.
Greed: The intense and selfish desire for something/anything.
I don't think that's quite right, a lot of the sins can be summed up as 'desire', hell, all of them can be.

Greed is the desire to possess, to hoard
Gluttony is the desire to use, to waste (not strictly about eating food, that's just the easiest example)
Envy is the desire to have/be what someone else has/is (sometimes with a, 'if I can't, no one can' mentality). Often a, drag you down to uplift myself, sort of thing.
Lust is the desire to experience (experience personal pleasure. Of any kind, not necessarily sexual), to do, even at the expense of others (sometimes specifically deriving pleasure from the expense of others)
Sloth is the desire to do nothing, sinful because it forces others to uphold them
Wrath is the desire to hurt out of a sense of being wronged. Usually sinful because of the extremes it goes to, and the disproportionate reaction to slights.
Pride is the desire to be perceived as perfect, flawless, infallible, superior. Considered the worst sin by Christianity because it's about 'placing oneself as (equal to/above) god'. And because it leads to the others.

Its really a tie between Greed and Envy. The nature of these sins means that they'll normally end up in close proximity to the most innocents and will also tend to have the most negative interactions.

Wrath can be manipulated, Pride as well.

Lust has the close proximity to innocents factor, but depending on the bearer, it can range from being a chaotic ally or the most wicked and devious of the sins.

Gluttony has always been too vague a sin for me to determine its use, so it'll all depending on your interpretation of it.

Then there's Sloth which as long as you leave it alone, it should do no harm unless if you give them some sort of passive effect that forces your characters to act against them.

Then I am all in for Sloth.

Because the phrase “Let not any one pacify his conscience by the delusion that he can do no harm if he takes no part, and forms no opinion. Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing. He is not a good man who, without a protest, allows wrong to be committed in his name, and with the means which he helps to supply, because he will not trouble himself to use his mind on the subject.”

True pride is the will to rule over all of creation. To look upon the world and know in your heart, "I would do this better, if I sat upon the lofty throne of the heavens." The absolute hubris to look gods dead in the eye and tell them that they fall short of your expectations. Dream deeply, not of how things are, but of what you believe they could BE.

Lucifer, you mean? The sin of Pride, the first sin.

Why would one be the most powerful? Any one of them can damn you. If we are talking personifications they would all have their own strengths, weaknesses, and skillsets. I’ll be writing these all on the assumption that they are an incarnation of the sin, as opposed to a victim of the sin. Lust isn’t lustful, it inspires and takes advantage of lust. Etc.

Lust is the best at social manipulation on a direct, interpersonal level. Manipulating key individuals or small groups, breaking strong relationships, and encouraging self destructive behavior. It’s more focused on the craving and desire than the actual consummation, which is actually a mix of Lust and Gluttony.

Gluttony Has the broadest and shallowest set of potential targets. Like lust, it’s a perversion of a very basic facet of humanity, and can probably operate in most of the same ways. Food is the obvious aspect, but keep in mind that it covers all forms of pleasure seeking. Food, video games, masturbation, heroin, fighting; anything goes as long as it’s for the sake of the pleasure and done in excess of a healthy or productive amount.

Greed: The accumulation of resources for the sake of HAVING them instead of USING them. Most sinful forms of USING resources fall under the other sins purview, especially gluttony. Greed has the most power and pull on a macro level for society, as it’s victims tend to become powerful from pursuing this vice. Pairs well with pride, if paired with competence it’s self destructive nature can coast on by for a loooong time.

Sloth: Very good at disruption and weakening people. Indolence is its most visible form, but rushing through things and making easily caught mistakes is another manifestation. In a combat situation, sloth would probably be deceptively dangerous because in his/her area of influence people ignore proper procedures. They could be an incredible trap layer. They can also be far more subtle than most, as they can essentially give someone magical depression.

Wrath Classically the most dangerous in a direct fight, but wrath itself isn’t a dumb brute. Surprisingly good at being a corrupter, as wrath feels not just good but MORALLY CORRECT when it has its fingers wrapped around you. Wrath is an instigator first and foremost, specialized in making sure that existing tensions are magnified and never ever deescalate. Of course, if there is someone in this lineup who is going to pull a heel face turn or be a neutral wildcard it should probably be wrath. Wrath is reactive, and properly channeled it can be a force for good.

Envy One of the BEST at pretending to be good, even better than wrath, despite essentially being a narrower and less sympathetic form of wrath. Envy makes you hate people, not because they are doing bad things (though they will definitely bring up all those things as justifications,) but because you want to be like them. If they are morally good people, envy will poison your view of them. If they are evil people, envy will mask itself as a desire for fairness.

Pride: Specializes in isolating people. Makes them easier targets by pushing people away, weakens their community by making sure that they don’t help anyone else. Can operate on an individual level, or create a cult to isolate a whole group.

Any can damn you, but which is the most destructive? Some have more impact than others. However, impacts may evolve over time too.

For example, the sin of gluttony during times when food was scarce hit differently than in times when we can mass produce GMO food for mass consumption.
