I mean; you might try having them just tend to be polyamorous in their homeland, with monogamy being something that only fully integrated satyrs do. Then they can have a reputation for “sleeping around” but it’s actually just that they have a different structure around romance/sex than you find with the vast majority of irl/human cultures.

Maybe even justify it somewhat by making them super extroverted on average. Have them get very clingy and take the loss of a partner ESPECIALLY badly if they only have one. Super community oriented, too. Possibly with a higher than average sex drive, but not ridiculously so. Especially once they aren’t horny teenagers anymore.

Have introverted ones, or ones who only want one partner, or less horny ones, be a weird minority in their homeland; maybe a lot of the ones you see abroad are (or are descended from) satyrs who didn’t fit into that culture. When a lot of people have certain tendencies, they build a culture where those tendencies are normal.

You don’t have to do that, or anything like it, but it was my first idea for a species of sexy people to not just be “the sex race” without their reputation for sleeping around being purely baseless racism. Just give them a culture, keeping in mind that they aren’t all just avatars of their culture, especially the ones who weren’t raised to it.

The thing is, they're not supposed to be that deep. They're an NPC race, which means they have just enough depth to look real on the surface, but when you interact with them you realize they're as wide as an ocean and as deep as a puddle.

I'm writing up some notes for the individual races in XNPC, and this is what I've got for the Satyra right now.

Satyra: Wild caste. A humanoid race with furry legs, cloven hooves, and goat-like horns. Males are called satyrs, and females are fauns. They are the most widely accepted of the Wild races, with some even fully integrating into the Civilized caste. Their almost unnatural beauty, combined with the slander of countless jealous spouses, has earned them the reputation of being a promiscuous race. In truth, while they may certainly draw the eye, they are unflinchingly loyal to both their romantic partners and their friends. Being part goat, they have nearly perfect balance, making them ideal rogues and thieves. Their natural charisma also makes them well suited for bardic classes.

I'm trying to keep them somewhat true to their origins as incorrigible horndogs, but I also don't want them to be "the sex race," you know what I mean? What do you think, thumbs up or down?

For making them the "sex race" that isn't the sex race, a few easy options are either to change the sex ratio (10:1 female to male, for instance), or else to have them mate in "heats/ruts" so that most of the time they are basically frigid. Those could easily give them a stereotype of being "slutty" without actually requiring them to be so.

Or make it even more simple. Maybe there was one really horny satyr/faun. Somehow they got really famous, and ruined the reputation of the entire race.

Or make them super easy going about stuff in general. They don't mind if their kid comes home with dyed hair, piercings, and a new boyfriend. They are only serious about the stuff that really matter. Like family or friends who need help. or not breaking the law. Otherwise? Meh.

Given that there is a psychological condition named for their legendary promiscuity, personally I would either lean into it, or ignore it all together and make them different than expected.
