I was reading that villainess manga where a girl only has 24 hours to overthrow the fuckhead heroine planning her downfall event and I was having a truly delightful time seeing her set up the dominoes to topple during the upcoming condemnation event. I was really having an excellent time, rereading it over and over again!
...Until, that is, the most recent chapter where she spends several pages bemoaning her lacking love life. It was such an obnoxious turn that caused me to rear back in disgust, especially when some "mysterious stranger " who evidently had some pull with the villainess's soon-to-be ex-fiance so it's genuinely such bullshit that she doesn't remember her "old childhood friend " that she's almost doomed to be paired up with at the end.
I like romance as much as the next fool, but if I'm reading a story about a gal tearing out the throats of anyone who tries to screw her over, I don't want to see some feminine-faced fuckhead popping in so I have to sit through some faux-conflict about whether she should pursue her revenge or "her own happiness "
She can kiss the dumbass way after she sets her enemies on fire and dances over their ashes.
A bit of a rant but I hope some can relate, at least a little.

Nice rant though. When the author tries to liven up their works by adding new things to up the dimensions, it is either a hit-or-miss, most of the times it's a miss.

The problem with long stories in a nutshell. To keep it going they add new elements, more often than not those new elements just drag the story down and cause it to go stale.

These stories always goes the "revenge won't satisfy you" route and it's such bullshit. Instead they shoehorn in romance to soften the MC when that's not needed at all. Let them have their vengeance AND get the girl. Or guy. Don't half ass it. I only don't like innocent people getting involved, but that's it. Kill those who act against you, but be fair to those not really involved.

The problem isnt romance, its that asian comics (manga, manhua, manwha} cant do romance correctly.
For some reason they all have to follow stupid tropes: Manga usually has a beta male MC who never makes a move on his love interest. Manhua usually has a MC that is too busy cultivating to feel the natural human urge to procreate, (but the characters usually get married at the end). In Manwha, a girl might have a reverse harem of dudes but they never make a move on each other.

Asian comic writers cant seem to understand mature adult relationships.

He complains about the author shoving romance down the readers' throats forcibly - even going so far as to present the do I want to choose revenge or happiness? pseudo-dillema - a total turn off. Writers should stick to one or the other or at least make it so both don't actively conflict each other.
