Any of yall got novels where the mc is a mage of sorts (any magic user) in a world where there is no system (could be one just cant rely on it as said below), but everyone just has to research their magic? Novels like Advent of the Archmage, Warlock of the Magus world, Age of Adepts, The Wizard World, and Warlock Apprentice. Hell even stuff like End of the Magic Era, although that one has a rather painful to read face-slapping tendency.

To clarify the research part; the Mc shouldnt have magic skill from a system that they have to levelup inorder to make it stronger, and they shouldnt have to wait until the system gives them new skills for magic in order to have more magic. They should be able to create their own spells with their knowledge, which will allow them to become powerful. And once they get more knowledge, they can upgrade those skills since they know more about how magic works. Also mc should have atleast some advantage over others (e.g ai chip, super high talent, super smart) and should be merciless enough to kill enemies but not evil enough to kill random people for no reason.

Magic and Martial War God- Here magics are simple as a martial art at first but later more spells, runes, and magic formation will be introduced. There will one A. I chip that can work copy and paste magic art mc acquired from the real world. He will also develop magic arts on his own. If you want to learn more, then you can try my work 'Magic and Martial War God'. Future chapters will introduce magic in a better way well this is what I think but you can give your views through comments and reviews

Time to shameless plugin: A Lost Necromancer's Saga. Like Leylin Farlier, my mc has to research technique about necromancy himself. The MC is neutral evil. He doesnt hesitate to kill people for his advantage. He is rational enough to not offeend big ass sect

Shameless self promotion time!

WMW is literally what inspired me when I decided to base the power system of my swords-and-magic fantasy world on cultivation. No magic in the first 15 chapters or so (which is a benchmark that still hasn't been passed,) but that kind of magic system is exactly the sort of thing they get once they DO start to learn it.

Most of the magic the MC uses will be based on clever use and combinations of the elements, as well as a detailed understanding of the 4 forms of matter. Solids, liquids, gasses, and plasma. There are 3 distinct magic systems in this world. The MC has elemental magic. There is also domain magic which is related to spirits, fey, and the divine, and there's effect magic which is primarily used by humans and requires even more detailed research than the other two. The MC, however, winds up proving that research and some physics knowledge can cause amazing and unimaginable effects with elemental magic which had previously been thought to be just something of a blunt instrument of savages.

I kinda started isekai-less and system-less story about MC who dabbles in summoning magic and is eager to follow the path to be a great summoner, although his aptitude failed him for most of the life. He already kinda has a lot of knowledge but will continue to develop what he knows and learn new stuff. I plan some more detailed descriptions of experiments and tests. Although the story is still not that heavy with lore as my other one is.

Rise of the Weakest Summoner has only a few chapters but if you are interested then feel free to check it out. I believe you are looking for a bit older stories with a backlog most likely.
