As the title implies, I have a short question for authors who have rebooted/rewrote their old series in its entirety.

What would you guys do if you were to rewrite/reboot your old story and you end up making a chapter that deviates a lot from the original plotline, would you rewrite the chapter to a point that doesn't deviate much from the original or will you keep going with the new route?

The reason I am asking this little question is because I am falling into a bit of a dilemma where on a rebooted series of mine, I made a certain chapter deviate a lot from the original version which itself is moving the rebooted story into the route I desired in the past (but couldn't write it because I was still incapable of writing something like this back then since I was only three months into writing) but then again, I am afraid whether it is actually proper to drastically change routes from the original story. (Sorry if I don't make sense)

This is a question for readers this time,
How would you react if a certain story you liked that got a reboot changed routes drastically, would you be fine with the new route as long as it is executed well or would you prefer the old route?

I’ve rebooted my main series. As well as some of the short stories, and stories that I haven’t touched in years. A reboot will more or less lead to deviations from the original plot line. Some large, some not so much. So long as it maintains the original premise, everything is good. The point of doing so in the first place is to improve the story. Hence, gotta be willing to make changes. The importance however, is that everything you write links in. Information supports each other, no matter how far it is from the original. You should be able to effectively tie it in.

As for if a reboot drastically changes, it would be fine. So long as it is consistent, and making sense. Ensure it is done well, and that is good enough.

With my stories, i'll usually end up rewriting bits (or rebooting large chunks) if i realise i've hopped off the path i had set with the basic concept of the story. I basically had to re-write almost the entire second arc of one of my novels once (not posted anywhere though) because, ironically thanks to a slight glitch which cost me the original chapters, i realized i had written the protagonist entirely contrary to how she was supposed to be and how she was written in the first arc.

As @Valmond said, reboots and rewrites, by nature, will lead to changes. If your reboot is going as you had originally wished then that's no problem. Pretty much all novels will, in some way or another, undergo some level of editing, re-writing or rebooting

If it deviates it deviates. When you chose to rewrite you understood that the original plotline was not following your desired route. so if the deviated chapter iis good leave. If it doesn't fit the plot remove it.

I'm pretty sure web novels that got rebooted into published light novels have had some deviations to things.
Kumo Desu Ga, Nani Ka? had quite a bit of deviation from the original web novel, as has Akuyaku Tensei Dakedo Doushite Kou Natta.
It happens when the author feels they can improve upon what they wrote, and so change the plot a bit.
'-'

In other words, it's fine since it's a reboot, not a remaster (if we go by gaming and film terms).

If it deviates from the original plotline, then that's just how it is. The point of a reboot is to remake the series into something that fits whatever you feel like doing using an established brand. It could be that you want the story to have more feeling, or to be more romantic or to make use of your wider range of current vocabulary or to show off your literary prowess. Sometimes, you realize that some parts of the original story doesn't work, now that you're more skilled to recognize it and you decide to change that.

That's completely fine. If you think changing it makes it a better story, change it. It's your story. Sure, there will be people who moan and cry at how the new series sucks or lacks what the original has, but that's human. People will complain, so just do what you feel like doing. But then again, if the readers bring up valid issues, you should listen to them.
