Hey all, I was wondering if anyone has published their books on lulu and was wondering how your experience was in general.

I know Amazon has the bigger user base. But I'm still curious if it's a decent alternative or if there's another company that's better.

Thanks

I know an author who uses the site for her webcomic, but I don't know her experience. But despite it being smaller, she doesn't intend to move to Amazon. This is what I'm interpreting from what I've heard, but I think you do leave with a bigger cut of the sales on Lulu compared to Amazon (BUT I could be wrong).

I haven't looked at Lulu in more than a decade when I first started creating some self-published books. At the time I was looking for a paperback or hard cover option in addition to eBook publication and I found CreateSpace (through Amazon--now I believe folded into the Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing) a better fit both because it was a bit cheaper but still high quality and offered Amazon distribution. I would take a look at both again just for a good comparison. Ultimately, no matter who prints your book they will do nothing to promote it unless you pay for advertisement and promotion options. There are doubtless other print on demand options out there, But I've been happy with Amazon for the soft cover and even the hard cover option for my novel.
