Transmigrator, reincarnator, regressor, isekai-er (I fucking hate how isekai is now a term), Player with respawn.

I wonder if there is a work that decides to lump all these freaks of nature into one world and see the amount of crap they pull.

...

Lol I recall this.

So damn funny.

Like, the author could at least paraphrase the well known characters.
I am more amused with the shitstorm it caused. It's okay to shamelessly plagiarize each other, but the moment someone dunks on your creation it stops being fair use.

I write a Men in Black organization that "manages" them.

It's a buddy cop.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.

It is one thing to praise, it is another to throw shit on it.

Though seriously, I can taste the hatred of the author.

I am more shocked that someone actually greenlit this.

Among those who were critical of Cheat Slayer was Rifujin na Magonote, author of Mushoku Tensei, who wrote on Twitter: "'Making characters appear who are recognizably borrowed from characters from other works, and then turning them into villains and making them do vile things'. This is crossing the line".

Making fun of our creations is crossing the line! Throw him in jail!

Is Rudeus inside?

Yeah, it becomes personal.

I mean, the entire thing is very personal.

Even I was shocked by all the villains being familar characters.

I can tell that the author hated the market domination of all these popular characters.

... I am trying to think about a counterpoint.

But I can't. For now.

I don't think he was a part of the cast, and I see nothing wrong with making a story like this. I think it was a good call out for all those guys who milk trends, their fans, but eh. Whatever.

Anyway, back to the original topic. Won't all CN novels where MC becomes a 'Villain' have all those cheat characters inside? Maybe some will be replaced with CN versions of cheat characters, like a guy with an advisor in a ring or pendant.

Is it a good callout? Because as I read the thing, all I felt is spite.

Yes, it does shine light on how oligopolistic the genre had turned to, the whole "alliance of OP IPs" ring similar bell to the Mouse. Especially when all the famous authors unite to kill this man.

But is there a better way to do so other than straight up potray the OG IPs as villainous.

Fyi, Momonga (Ainz) makes sense to be there, he is bad from the start.

I had a very good take on this, but I forgot it. :blob_pat_sad:

I know who Ainz is, I watched first season of Overlord. I think there is a better if you want to make a better story. However, as a message, that's the best way. Because it shows that those fans are anything but welcoming. You can even make an argument how it's a manifesto against killing simple fantasy to write isekai. How it is purposefully made that way to show just how bad it is, but I think it's too much of a stretch.

Fanbases do be rabid.

Makes sense for the manifesto though. Simple fantasy where normal people going on quest is sadly long dead.

Initially it was isekai in order for readers to feel immersed because the MC is now their proxy. I will openly admit that I am also one of the problem for this.

Then they want the MC to be empowered. Be it instantly (OP from the start) or gradually (DEEP BLUE ADD POINTS *raspberry noises*), the readers want their proxy to be a cheat. I will now abashedly admit that I am also one of the problem.

What I don't mind is making iconic characters into villains. In fact I was shocked, then amused. Then I got real sad when only one chapter and hearing about the shit flung to the guy. It makes sense that he got shitted, but it also expose how gatekeepy the community is.
