Is it possible for a person to develop symptoms like nausea, sweating and dizziness due to their dislike of tobacco or alcohol?

The cousin of my friend seems to have this condition. He didn't smoke or drink but according to my friend's speculation, there was something that happened (the detail I can not disclose since it is personal info) for an extended period of time from when he was small (5+ until 10+). As he got older, there symptoms become more serious. At first, back when he was still small, he was fine with staying near to source of smoke. Then he grew more uncomfortable with the smoke as he aged. By the time he was 10, he would be sweating and have light nausea whenever he smells nicotine. It was known that he showed his dislike toward tobacco since very young.

For alcohol-related symptoms, it also begun with consumption. He grew less and less tolerance to alcohol and now developed vomiting whenever he tastes alcohol. He is ok smelling alcohol but not drinking it unlike nicotine.

My friend believed that the root cause is psychological and not physiological. It must be that thing that happened for a prolonged time in the past that created expectations from his rejection to nicotine and alcohol. This then became self-fulfilling prophecy and created some placebo effect. That was my friend's speculation.
