So recently, I finally got my balls together and talked with my crush and with siri & chatgpt's instructions, I asked her about her hobbies and etc. Surprisingly she was a writer on webnovel, with 3 books over a million views and she was earning more than 200$ from his patreon. I was really excited after hearing about this and I asked her, what was her username in webnovel but shockingly she refused to tell me. I asked her for 3 days but she didn't answer and then I moved onto different topics whenever I saw her. It's been 11 days since we are so friendly and 4 days ago she gave me her number. We chat quite a lot about many things and specially novel writing. But one question still remains in my heart, why is she hiding her identity on webnovel? Perhaps is she an h-novel writer. I mean you know, if you make some novels that could reach millions of views then surely you'd get a contract from cloudy ltd. and you'll earn directly from webnovel but here she was earning from patreon only. She never even mentioned about any contracts, although she does know what is a contract. I tried to find her author account from many guesses but it was all worth nothing! You know growing on webnovel, with your normal fantasy, litrpg etc, genre novel is not easy and that's why many pursue the path of h-novels, a short way to become successful.... Nowadays I don't ask her about her webnovel author name but still, I'm curious.....

That's why..... What if my 1 year long crush is a h-novel writer? What'd happen if she becomes my gf IN FUTURE?

I don't see the problem. Steven King started out with smut stories for Playboy. Heck he got married while doing that, and only wrote his first novel "Carrie" because some people crapped on his work.

I'll answer your question with a question. Where is the problem in that, for you personally?
Assuming she does write h-novels, there is a lot of social stigma around it and so an understandable reluctance to share from her part, but since she does not post under her real name, as long as you don't reveal it, it does not affect either of you. She would have to be writing some crazy stuff to be a possible red flag, h or non-h, and I'm not sure that would fly on Webnovel, much less on Patreon.
So what matters is how you feel about it.

Feel like the chance of running into another author in real life is astronomically low. Just saying.

If that's true, and if you do date her, however, why the hell would you care? She can write what she wants.

She'd have no reason to hide ecchi/hentai from a man. I believe your crush writes NTR/Cheating/Cuckoldry. lol jk

I'd be upset if my gf was writing quality smut and refused to share. I could be her biggest fan. lol

Or... she doesn't want to get fucked by Webnovel, so she didn't sign a contract with them? Are you sure you know what you're talking about?

If you really want to know, offer to exchange writing examples.

Now one other reason to hide an identity is if there is some history that you are unaware of, but she is not - if maybe you commented on something she wrote somewhere.
Or if she writes male GB fantasies or Boy on Boy stories and thinks that will creep you out.

Why do you care so much about this? In your head, you are conflating this with doing porn? is not the same thing...
But maybe you think she can be a total freak that writes about her man being a cuck LOL; it's better to ask her about her preferences when the time comes; don't let this get in the way of your possible relationship.

The most likely thing is this: she writes boy-on-boy stuff and things you would be creeped out about.

At the end, i think you are focusing on something that doesn't matter, but you said yourself
"So recently, I finally got my balls together and talked with my crush and with siri & ChatGPT's instructions."
So that doesn't surprise me for you to be so focused on something like this; focusing more on knowing more about her than what she does unless it affects you is the best way, in my opinion.

I ask to all the writers here: would you feel 100% comfortable showing your writing to a dating prospect?

Even if there's nothing smutty about what she writes, she might still want to keep that part of herself private. It might be way easier for her to write, knowing that only strangers on the Internet will ever get to read it. That shit can be personal.

My wife helps me edit my chapters, so yeah. She sees all my horrible grammar mistakes, wacky plot beats, and stupid dialogue strings before they're fixed too.
