Okay, for some reason I’m only able to actually think about writing when I’m actually writing something. Wanted to spitball the story I wanted to write. I know my weakness of getting ahead of myself too early so this is me experimenting.
Just going to get the idea out and see if it’s consistent enough to be written.
So… this started as a different post about machine empire soldier lackey getting killed after completing his mission of killing the enemy Magical Girl. I hadn’t got further than that so let’s start from there. He is reincarnated as her summoned companion.
Humanoid and ‘alive’ companions are rare. Most summon what’s called a Spectre. They are mythical beings or creatures. Stuff like Phoenixes, Elves, Devas, Dragons, etc. Most usually summon an animal with an attribute.
Nobles, through a special ritual, can connect and make intelligent humanoids their companions for life. They normally communicate telepathically with their user and aren’t restricted by flesh. All of them coming with a weapon: Spirit Essence.
Elves have Wood Attribute Bows and Merman have tridents and so on… Usually, they give their weapon to their companion in an independently used ceremony.
The machine soldier lackey is summoned as his past self. Being the only human to ever be summoned with a Spirit Essence. He has no Mana or talent due to the influence his home dimension has on their humanity. All of them sharing the same mana deficiency syndrome.
The Saintess that he killed will be a typical daughter of a Northern Duke archetype at that point. Very arrogant. Non-saintly. Mean and petty like a young girl her age. Being shameless and eloquent enough to spin this as a blessing.
Because he lacks a lot of powers, she initially feels disappointed… but seeing that her summon is a living person makes her slowly grow more curious. His machine-like personality making it hard to guess he’s from a different dimension (she thought he was a spirit entity).
A slice-of-life story ensues as he starts to learn the intricacies of a Romance Fantasy world that has princes, protagonists, and villainesses (which the Saintess apparently is in their love story). The lackey initially looking down on them.
The empire is perfect. There is no flaws in the system and everyone works towards unity. Those who are corrupt are ‘inefficient’ while those who talk of virtue are ‘ineffective’. Secretly gathering intel as a spy instead of killing the Saintess a second time despite having the motive. He expands his knowledge and wisdom.
The more he knows, the more he starts to doubt if this world was a threat to his empire. There was no evidence towards these people knowing how to cross dimensions, which was why the war happened in the first place. The people here weren’t all good, but they didn’t seem aware of his dimension enough to bring damage to it.
He then encounters the first reconnaissance team that shouldn’t have existed. His father and brother were among those who entered. All of them not fully mechanised. From them, he learns that the empire was the one who started the war.
That they hadn’t been murdered in the empire.
His father and brother, who’d died as martyrs to the empire, had been killed to cover the truth of the matter. Their lives expended to motivate the empire’s nobility. Saying that the magic kingdom was vicious and that negotiations were pointless.
Thus starting his thoughts of a revolution. With his own family that’s still trying to change from their awkward relationship in the past, and his new family that had loved him despite him being an outsider. He fights and tries to persuade his former allies to put down their arms peacefully.
The only sure-fire solution found was to enter the empire themselves and talk with the emperor.
Big shock, the emperor is actually evil.
They die from being too trusting of the emperor.
He returns to the moment he first met the Saintess and a looping story ensues where he can get stronger the more he dies. The catch is that his relationships start from zero again and rushing to get their trust brings other dangers.
He realises that he has to defend the kingdom and The Saintess instead until another solution can be found. Trying to save his father and brother while simultaneously trying to balance politics. Dragging things out as much as he can.
He continues to die from unforeseen dangers that crop up. Those thinking he is a demon in disguise, a traitor to the empire, an untrustworthy fool with no roots, and the prince who tries to kill the Saintess himself with assassination attempts.
Learning that The Saintess dying also loops him.
After overcoming these obstacles, he is finally faced with the finale. The emperor is revealed to be a dragon in disguise. An unbeatable monolith that shortens his loops the more he dies by it. The starting point getting closer to the end.
In order to trick the emperor (who starts remembering the time rewinds and focuses on trying to attain his powers) he gains Cursed Gifts and grows them instead of blessings. When the final battle happens, he breaks his looping power.
After possessing the MC, the emperor suddenly finds himself blind and unable to access the machine hive mind he dominated for centuries until that day. Finally being slain after a gruesome fight with those who were left behind.
Thanks to the power of love (yes, really) the MC is revived without his abilities. He reunites with the two families and the story ends. He learns a valuable lesson that though life is short and not all is precious, that some people are irreplaceable.
He stays with his family to clean up the mess and promises to visit the Northern Duke family regularly after cleaning up the empire. Being the second emperor ever to be recorded in the empire’s history. Working for a better future.
Aftermath chapter being the emperor accepting a new empress and her liking her job due to how different everything is. Enjoying this new empire being built while trying to liven up the once monotonous and grim world the lackey lived in.
They visit the Saintess to find that she chose to live happily single despite her father’s wishes. Her position as a Virgin Mary of sorts being the best excuse to deny marriages. Awaiting the day she’d see her good friend again one last time.
The true end being a reunion after many years.
——————————-
That’s what I got for the first draft of the story I made right now from spitballing. I can already see some inconsistencies so I’ll just work on that for now. Since the entity that sent him back was a Love God and he has love-based powers, I’m going to just roll with that ending cooked up.
Some things I missed out is that he’d have Megazord battles, his weapon being a Ranger Morpher, and each loop creates a clone of himself paired with another Morpher in the past he can summon out. The more he dies, the more his army of himself can spread their efforts.
That’s the first draft and the details were irrelevant.
Just going to get the idea out and see if it’s consistent enough to be written.
