Wait. Do you mean any fiction, or classic FANfic? Because this fanfic was the first fan fiction I read that not only didn't make be vomit, but changed my mind on the whole concept. Before this, I wouldn't touch litrpg or fanfic with a ten thousand foot pole.

In case anyone doesn't get the reference, in the Fate series, Gilgamesh references that all other heroic epics, and thus all other heroes, are merely derivatives of him. That said, it is the oldest literary work that we know of, and it isn't half bad.

Alas, the author never finished. Think of it as if they finished the empire strikes back, but never got around to making return of the Jedi. But as someone who loves D20 3.0/3.5, this guy nailed it. I mean, NAILED IT. It is still worth a read right up to the end, but damn if you don't go, "WWWWHHHHYYYYYYYYY U NO FINISH???"

Also, I do not understand that website. It has the most confusing layout EVER.

Incidentally, this reminds me that The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand is probably my favorite fiction of all time.
