How often do you refresh to check for new messages or notifications

I'm thinking about making an extension to auto-update notifications and messages. Still waiting on tony to green light, so in the meantime I'd like to see if it'd be worth it.

Either every few minutes or every few hours. It changes.

Whenever I get done with something else, I refresh just to check. Ranges from several hours to every ten seconds, depending on how quickly I can finish what I'm doing.

Far too frequently, unless if I'm super busy. Maybe I'll check it once every 10 minutes or it could be an hour or two depending on when I get breaks at work.
