Assuming the quality is great, would anyone be interested in something that transforms a chapter into audio? A small button at the top of the chapter page that you click and it starts reading.

EDIT: I just realized the 'Yes' answer is terrible.. and I can't remove it.. I added another answer closer to what I had in mind

it's a good idea but it's better geared towards longer chapters/stories. my attention span and my chapters are over in a flash, so there wouldn't be much point for my stories but 5k+ stuff would probably be worth it

assuming there are more chapters, they can be automatically loaded so you don't pause. I'm not specifically building this. paperback audiobooks are popular enough. I'm curious if there's any interest in listening to web novels.

It depends on the quality. If it's a simple text bot that sounds like the tiktok reader or the googlemaps reader then not even if it's free. If it's got different voices that can vary in range then absolutely if free. If it allows you to choose what voice to read for each line of dialogue and has multiple good quality and not jarringly annoying voices then I would pay up to $10 for a year of services.

If it isn't free you could just copy and paste into another service

I use text to speech every day. I payed for a program about 10 years ago. My best friend transferred it to my new computer. I don't care if it's shitty quality. It gets the job done, and I'm not going to pay a fee for something I already have. I will, however, use programs of higher quality if they are free and more convenient. The great thing about the program I bought years ago is that I can run it without the internet, so it's very useful on days when the internet is slow.

Webnovel's text to speech feature just uses google services, I don't think they even use their own compute for it.
