Add BB code in the forum posts/replies ~ which if used will allow users to hide their author signature from that specific comment/post.
This way, there is no need for a website-wide toggle switch to enable/disable the author signature on specific forum posts, and disabling it would be applicable to whatever posts/replies we want it to.

Reason for this: To reduce some of the clutter of author signatures when anybody replies with anything, upon our own volition and judgement.

Well, it wouldn't be such a problem, if people would put their signature in spoiler or simply stick to the forum rules to make their signature not ass-long.

I don't think there will be any major update for the forum though (Tony said so long ago and there indeed have been no big update for 5 years). Btw is the BB code the same thing as the [ ] button besides the save draft button?

Pretty much the only changes to the forum have been simple color swaps for things that couldn't be read.

I understand the function of the spoiler system, but it defeats the primary purpose I've pointed out. I'm talking about enabling a code that is disabled "by default," for every post. Putting the signature inside of a spoiler button will auto hide it by default, which is not what I was going for.

Also yes, the BB code is the same [] as you have mentioned. Certain functions might be different between editing the signature and editing draft content, but I'm not aware if there are any differences.

it is not so outlandish. many message boards have this feature. when posting, there is a little box one can tick for "hide signature".
very common feature.

It’s not outlandish. I just don’t expect/think that Tony will update the forum in any way.

NUF has an even older xenforo version and it‘s been around for muuuch longer. ?

It is a useful suggestion and it should be evaluated as such.

It is certainly possible and a common feature, even in message boards that existed before 2010. Although I am unfamiliar with whatever NUF is, I believe I personally used it on a message board in 2009/10. Not that I would recall which forum software it used.
Overall, in terms of age, I would not consider SH that old. For one, it is usable on mobile. You can tell outdated forum software apart by checking if it works on small screens.

Of course, all of that is besides the point. Making a suggestion is different from making an order or a demand. There are two criteria, a) is it feasible and b) is it useful.
Then, it is up to the person who would be investing the time and effort to make their own decision, a) do I have the skills to accomplish it and b) is it a good use of my time right now.
I checked, and there is an existing Xenforo plugin for it. Of course, I did not check if the version is compatible.
But that would not usually be within the scope of a suggestion. That is part of evaluating how and when to implement a suggestion. A lot of QoL features like this get put on the "maybe when we are not busy" heap and then forgotten for ten years. And that is fine.

I think this is a good suggestion of a quality of life feature.
