I'm not asking for feedback, this just seemed like the best forum to celebrate on lol
The prologue is done lol!
In all seriousness, I never thought I'd get this far. Originally some time late 2019 I started writing a little story, since I wasn't quite satisfied with the Japanese/Korean/Chinese stories I was reading. Don't get me wrong, I loved the tropes, but I wanted one set in the real world with travel to other worlds, which was rarer, and going from first principles from the emergence of powers, way out into the wider world and beyond. All the way through.
Of course, i wanted some flawed characters who would grow, and some cute girls too *smile* I wrote 63 chapters, not in any particular hurry, about 100k words. Then Covid hit and in my line of work that was a big deal, so I was too busy for much over the next 18 months. Then about 18 months ago, things calmed down and I took up the pen again, as it were.
Then I decided to post it online somewhere, since I was writing it anyway, might as well share. So people suggested Royal Road to me. Later on, when i started reaching the lewd scenes, I moved to SH as well, so that discerning readers could get the uncensored experience *smile*
Compared to RR, SH is far more receptive to Harem, so I get a lot less brutality in the comments lol.
I've had my fair share of bad ratings, more good ones, luckily, usually the bad ones come when on trending, but unlike on RR they don't really matter *wink*
And there have been a couple of very harsh commentators who hurt my spirit, but overall, ScribbleHub (and even most people on RR to be honest) have been very welcoming. The good definitely outweighs the bad, the kind the criticism.
There was one thing I definitely did do right though. I wrote and posted. A lot. average 5 chapters a week, and not necesarily short ones, for 18 months. I can hardly believe it myself, honestly. And 90% of the time, I've loved it. And I've also enjoyed people theorycrafting, discussing and asking questions, and unravelling future plot points.
I managed to amass a modest but decent 1400 readers here and 700 followers on RR, which I don't think is too bad *smile* I've been number one on trending here a few times too, which was always a nice surprise, and often I make top 10, usually once a week or so heh.
So, where to go from here? I'm now going to reread my story, do a little editing and polishing up, and also create a character index and other stuff for the readers, since even I struggle to keep track of the massive cast heh. Hopefully that'll only take a month, and then it's all steam ahead for Act 2
So to everyone who has read my story, even a word of it, and even those who didn't like it, and especially to those looking eagerly forwards to Act 2, I say... cheers. Writing sure is fun, huh? Here's to the next 2 million words lol...
