Many game developers have experienced this situation. But what happened to me is worse! A super powerful existence is fooling around in my game, and I have to fear for my life.
Details:
The protagonist is a game developer of a semi-popular MMORPG. Everything seems to be looking up, until one day, s/he receives a concerning email by a person claiming to be a god. That person offers their help with the game's promotion in exchange for his/her permission to make 'some minor changes'. Our protagonist is quite a rational person and not very religious. Laughing it off as some prank, s/he asks the god to prove their promotional abilities.
Unfortunately, it's not a prank, and the users rapidly increase through a series of miraculous coincidences. Unfortunately, the game also seems to be continuously gaining features (and bugs) that s/he does not remember implementing. Furthermore, one user seems to be collecting reports for cheating. God asks him/her to uphold his/her end of the bargain and take care of it... or die.
