I'm looking for the original source of the medieval Adventurer, Hero and Demon lord Tropes before they became a popular story starter pack lore.

The Ramayana is the original chosen hero vs demon lord story, and it's thousands of years old! Demon lords are mainly from eastern myths, namely Hinduism, and any kind of Western demon with authority will always be the devil, otherwise it's Dracula.

If you can find the unabridged, then it's got amazing world building on top of the story that will breathe fresh life into medieval-style fantasy.

It's got magical weapons, non-human sapient races, monsters, a bit of politics, you name it!

Dragon Quest seems to be a major contributor to the modern version of the story, even being the story that the reconstruction Hero and Demon Lord is based on gets most of its 'cliche' lines from. The first is a game, the second is a- play? with LN and anime adaptations.

Edit/Merged Post: If you want to go really old school (Western)... It's the realm of myth and legend. King Arthur and the Knights of the Round table tend to follow the same format, and they're at least eight hundred years old. Going back further, Greek hero myths tended to follow that format, with Athena being the Goddess who sends the Hero on their journey to slay the (Demon Lord) Monster.
