You were crawling through the desert, parched to your very core. Vultures circled overhead as you trekked through the sand, each step more tiring than the last. You were about to give up all hope when in the distance, you saw a medium sized body of water surrounded by shady sycamore trees. Suddenly and with all the energy you could muster, you stripped to your underwear and ran to the lukewarm, crystal clear blue water of the pond, diving right in and letting out a sigh of relaxation as the tranquil water washed over your body. To say that it felt like absolute heaven would have been an understatement.
Out of desperation, you scooped up handfuls of the water and took deep sips only to be surprised at how salty it was. Still, you keep drinking until you had your fill. You then turned your gaze to the other side of the pond only to see a large dragon hunched over under the shade of a tree. The dragon appeared to be crying, tears rolling down his long snout and plopping into pond. You watched in awe as the dragon's tears rippled across the water's surface. Surely, this had to be a mirage. You pinched yourself but nothing happened. You still felt the warm yet refreshing saltwater caress your skin as you stared at the weeping dragon.
It then hit you that you were swimming, bathing in and drinking the tears of the dragon. Strangely enough, you didn't really mind the realization as the tears acted as a lifeline to you. In fact, it only made the experience even more unique and magical. Throwing caution to the wind, you swam towards the crying dragon until you were directly under him and decided to speak up, "Excuse me, but is this pool made up of your tears?"
The dragon sobbed for nearly a minute longer before responding, "I....I think so. I-I've just been here cr-crying for so l-long that I-I-" The dragon let out another heartbroken sob, tears dripping off his snout and raining down on your head and shoulders like a warm summer shower.
"If you don't mind me asking, what's your name and why are you crying so hard?" You ask the weeping dragon in response, fighting back a smile as the dragon's refreshing tears landed on you, "Also, this may sound strange but thanks for the tears. I was dying of thirst out in the desert and you saved my life!"
(This is the point where readers give the dragon a name and reason for why he is crying. Feel free to put your own spin on it)
