Naturally, this would probably involve transmigration/reincarnation etc. since the MC would have to know they're being forced by the plot towards a certain direction in the first place.
To make a comparison, think of what I'm looking for as the "Your choices don't matter" aspect of Deltarune chapter 1. But the main character is a lot more self-aware and tries to pick options that guide everyone away from the "canonical ending", but no matter what they do(at least at the start), the major events all end up having roughly the same result as the original plot they know of, only with some changes in the way they got there.
Off the top of my head, there is one in Scribblehub that roughly fits the bill, the one with the guy named C(forgot the name of the novel). Though I'm hoping for a more subtle correction than just straight up forcing events to happen by physically puppeteering the characters involved.
