Have you ever seen people who find characters who look not just conventionally unattractive, but very unsettling or horrifying, attractive.

Usually ones that look like this:

I showed this image to a person once, and they said he looked hot

Some monsters play on looking attractive and appealing while being monsterous, while others...don't. What do you think of it?

The Alien from the Alien movies is "beautiful" in its own way, compared to most other movie monsters and such that are usually just ugly or disgusting... As are some others of Giger's designs... which are supposed to be kind of "nightmarish" designs... no? but I don't know if I would call it "attractive"

I had a crush on the headless horseman from Sleepy Hollow...before you saw his face.

They have appeal, they are cool to look at, but not exactly what I'd call my Waifu or Husbando

Explain why, I'm genuinely curious.
Hmm...I honestly don't know.
'-'
If I had to guess, it's probably the same reason I kind of like it when guys are wearing half-masks or full masks.
It might be the mystery behind what they might look like, maybe?
Hmm, I also have a crush on Phantom from Phantom of the Opera before the mask comes off.
>w<
I don't know, with those two examples, I think it's cos they seem to be full of confidence in their ability and prove it with their actions...
Another example of a non-monster would be Maximus Decimus Meridius in Gladiator. I found him more appealing with the helmet on than without.
'-'

Is that a strange answer?

So it's the mystery that is appealing to you? Huh, never thought of it that way.

it's interesting because a lot of those spectral characters we see have organic shapes. So when it comes to, say ghostface ghost mask killer, or those specters that seem to be in robes.. I won't say they're attractive but the organicness of their shape doesn't repel me.. If you get what I mean..

To be honest? I think it is about how unhuman and powerful they are that gives them the appeal of being beautiful.

Being powerful is a form of beauty.

That or people require stimulation and oddballs sometimes provide the right juice to the brain.

So it looks cool. Often, looking cool isn't quite the same as looking attractive.

Sounds like the real-life version of Marc from my story. He's an artist, and the way my dad put it: "He looks like his monsters."
And then there's this other woman who calls him "Erik" like from Phantom of the Opera.
It's hard to describe him without venturing too close to revealing the identity of the man who inspired the character, so I don't say too much about his appearance.
